Downtown Harrisburg isn't so great. Small area, few shops and restaurants and plenty of blighted areas that don't even look very safe.

Downtown Harrisburg is unique as the state capitol and an interesting place to visit from its history, government to its dining. Many things to do and see. However, travel too far, and you will find the blight that inhabits many of our cities.

I walked most of Harrisburg late Summer 2016 - what a 'mixed-bag'! Some areas are gorgeous - I must say, the exception. The city is, overall, extremely, 'run-down' so many houses not maintained -occupied till they fall apart, causing the occupants to vacate.

A compact downtown area. Withing easy walking distance were lots of restaurant choices, the wonderful capitol building, book stores, shops and an artists' gallery. A nice afternoon.

There are a lt of nice restaurants downtown. Most of which are very reasonably priced. If you go after dark stick to the main restaurant area (front street).

There is plenty to do in downtown Harrisburg. Of course there's the gorgeous state Capitol building, the Capitol complex with the fountain and parks, shopping, lovely old churches, and the dinosaur art! We enjoyed taking photos of the various dinosaurs that are scattered around town,...More

Free street parking on Sunday was a bonus. It was nice to walk around to see the dinosaur art. Walked across the bridge. Nice views. Restaurants looked nice.
