Natural Splendor along the Swatara.Like many caverns in the Mid-Atlantic...

Natural Splendor along the Swatara.Like many caverns in the Mid-Atlantic states, Indian Echo Caverns is a limestone cave. Cut through Beekmantown limestone, which is over 440 million years old, they were formed through the erosive properties of water. As time progressed, geological forces led to an "uplift" of the surrounding limestone, eventually allowing more and more water to flow through the formation. As the water flowed over the limestone, it began to create small crevices, these small crevices led to larger ones, and eventually, over a series of millions of years, it created the caverns as they are today. The temperature inside the caverns is 52 degrees year around.

We got there right as the Caverns opened at 10am. We were prompt along with at least 4 families other than mine ready to take the tour. We were turned away with no apologies unless we wanted to wait till 11:20 because there was a field trip that wasn't even checked in yet. Ruined our plans for the whole day.... More

We have 4 children, 7,6,3, and a small baby. Our three oldest really enjoyed their experience, we all learned a lot about the cave and the history of the area. We wore the baby and he slept most of the time. Our children have been commenting on how much fun they had at the caves. They especially liked the part... More

I absolutely loved my visit to Indian Echo Caverns. Everyone there was extremely nice and seemed genuinely happy to be there! The tour was exciting and filled with a lot of great stories. We had two guides because one was being trained and it went very smoothly. The trainee was really good and the trainer filled in any forgotten bits... More

Nice caves with good shape formations. Guide was nice and hilarious. Have seen better so wouldn't call them the best. If you have not seen caves then worth giving it a try.

We headed here from Lancaster, Pa which is only a 35 min drive away before heading back to NY. Indian Echo Caverns are a must see. Very cool and rich in history. They do give AAA discount if you have it. This tour does require extensive walking and ducking through the cavern during low spots. It is a constant 52degrees... More

beautiful intriguing and educational that's how i would describe Indian Echo Caverns. I have taken the tour many times and my daughter was one of the guides for several years. It is a great way to spend a couple of hours in the Hershey area. The cave is a constant 58Deg so remember that during the height of summer. The... More

Great gem! The kids were unsure about the dark places, the cost may be a little high for a family of 6 but great experience

Definitely a nice thing to do alone or with kids. The docent gave a good talk and explained everything well. The children were excited and enjoyed it we have tweens and teens.
