Very pretty

Zhu must have been a very wealthy person because this complex is huge! It's very pretty, well preserved and relaxing.

Maybe you have been Suzhou Garden near Shanghai, however, should you visit YUNNAN, I do suggest to come to JIANSHUI town, to feel the less developed town, to taste Toufu BBQ, to see the second biggest Confusion temple which has over 700 years. This garden is wonderful representative of local building and art. 江南有苏州园林,云南有朱家花园。少了湿润的空气,多了湛蓝的天空,相同的是独具匠心的布局与装饰,不同的是各地民风浸润出的色彩与艺术

In addition to the Confucius Temple, this is the other must see if you're in Jianshui. Though it has a lot of rooms and courtyards, you can see it 1-2 hours. I particularly enjoyed looking at the series of rooms with folding wooden doors separated by courtyards with plants and flowers. It's peaceful and quiet.

You don't really need to see the whole thing, as it is really huge, and after a while, it's just another courtyard and more rooms! But you really do get the idea that this was an extremely wealthy family! Most of the furnishings and details are not much to look at, as they have clearly been added later to fill... More

Zhu's family garden give you a nice view on old Chinese family tradition. Most of the things look untouched and you feel the real historical background. On picture exhibition you can see few things for the Jianshui area and the life style in old time. It is definitely worth to walk around there if you're in Jianshui. On thing I... More
