We parked at the long stay car park at the Wharf and then cycled east along the canal path. The Caen Hill Flight of locks is simply amazing! Take time to visit the Canals & Waterways barge for some children's activities. We saw some stunning scenery and nature too. Tip - If you continue along the path for approx. 4... More

Plenty to see whilst walking along the canal, always interesting to see the different narrow boats and watch the locks operating. Lots of ducks, geese and swans too.

A long lane leads you to this beautiful peaceful area of the countryside. We walked the majority of the lock after paying to park at the little cafe.Plenty of seating to stop and enjoy a bite to eat surround and the area seems to be very dog friendly too.As for the walk,it is a little challenging being a lengthy gradual hill... My husband and I went for a walk with our baby in her pushchair along the locks. We were unsure where to park to access them as it's not very well sign posted from Devizes. There are a couple of places to stop to eat and drink along the way, and it was enjoyable to watch the different narrow boats... More

Walked down this flight of locks while walking from Pewsey to Bristol on the Kennet & Avon canal last Sunday morning. Lots of people exercising their dogs or themselves by walking, running & cycling up or down the locks. Must be a great place to visit when the sun is shining!

With two rambunctious boys in tow we ate at the little cafe there, great food and walked the length of the locks, the boys loved it as did we.

on a bright sunny day in april we visited caen locks at Rowde. amazing achievement to move vessels up and down a height on the Avon/kennet canal. Not only a wonderful museum piece but a peaceful rural view while having a walk or coffee at the café at the top of the flight. A must visit if in the area.

Thank Jo and Scott S
