One of the longest continuous flight of locks in the country - a total of 29 locks with a rise of 237 feet over 2 miles. Absolutely outstanding. Lots of walkways and wildlife. Well worth a visit.

The wonder of Wiltshire. This is a sight to be seen. I've never gone down in a canal boat, I've only walked it but it is still a tremendous sight. Recommended if you ever visit Devizes.

Could not believe that this length of canal, has now been so beautifully brought back to life. We played in these dried out pounds & used to jump across the decaying lock gates, some 50 years ago. Never thought, in our wildest dreams, to see...More

We visited the locks as we had been through them on a previous canal holiday! Beautiful day and spectacular views. To top it off there was a cafe at the top that provided a welcome cup of tea ( most welcome ) opens at 10:30

Beautiful and historic! The walk from the wharf near the centre of Devizes town to the Caen hill flight is beautiful at any time of year, convenient stop at the little tea room at the start of the main flight serves lovely cakes and coffees....More

Amazing example of Victorian ingenuity. By the time it was finished railways had negated its need! A short walk from Devizes and using the lock gates its possible to crossover and return on the other side, thus negating the need to make the full decent.

Absolutely amazing feat of engineering and fascinating to watch all the boats passing through. A lovely walk and we got to chat with all sorts of fascinating people. Our children were fascinated with the whole thing too!

A beautiful place to visit, a steep gradient for a waterway to overcome, the series of locks provide some excellent photographic opportunities

Incredible piece of engineering, and we'll used by the canal fraternity. Excellent cafe towards the top of the climb.

We estimate walking the locks at a gentle pace, around an hour. There’s a cafe as you go towards the top. If you are talking about taking a canal up, think we heard it takes 4-5 hours.
