A cool and windy day but well worth the visit. An excellent tour from Nick, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly. Doug made the beam engine come alive and his talk was very good too. A very interesting place which was brought alive by the wonderful and...More

The Levant mine is run by the National Trust and is an interesting place to visit. There is a very good video presentation and a working engine. They do guided tours every hour, but we preferred to simply wander the site on our own. By...More

I found the visit very interesting and informative, however, we timed it just right to get on a guided tour. I suspect if you miss the tour you'd say there's not much there , although the steam engine is impressive.

Staff and guides are passionate about the history and technical aspects of the mine. The film show and models were excellent. The man engine shaft is the site of an accident killing many men and so treated with great reverence by the staff as a...More

If you join a guided tour you will can down the shaft to the “Man Engine Tunnel” where 31 miners lost their lives. It’s also the only place where there’s a beam engine in steam. Well worth a visit.
