Had an amazing day today at Geevor Tin Mine, a quite humbling but most interesting day out. The underground tour was brilliant and I'd highly recommend that, as was the whole site. Talking to some of the miners who actually worked there was so interesting. The Dry Room for me was the sadest part as it was left how it... More

The great backdrop of the coast line is beautiful and breathtaking. The site is exactly as it was left when it shut in 1992. The best way of finding how this site once worked, I recommend starting with the video, so very interesting and explains a lot about the site. The mill and tables must have been so noisy back... We took some 50 children on a visit to Geevor mine today. What a day it was. Everything was very well organised,we were divided into small groups, each with a very knowledgeable guide. Ours had worked there until the mine finally closed, obviously with a great deal of sadness. The displays were excellent and all the children were engaged all... More

If you intend to do the underground tour don't take a large handbag - or one a man would call large even of you don't! Best to leave bags behind as you get given coveralls to wear over your clothes to protect them from the sides of the mine. And unless your Bilbo Baggins you will find the underground tour... More

We spent many wonderful hours at Geevor Mine last Wednesday. There is so much to see and they also offer hands-on activities for families. Just right for us! We got hooked up for quite a while playing their own Geevor games, a game with sparkling minerals and, best of all, one with magnetic stones which we later bought in the... More

We went to Geevor today - never thought we would have such great fun. It was marvelous. Our kids couldn't get enough of the kibble filling and stone carving and the volunteers - two gentlemen, sorry, forgot their names - were extremely knowledgeable and great to chat to. The whole site is amazing and huge. Absolutely worth a visit if... More

With visions of getting into a rickety lift to go deep underground, we set out for the Greevor mine to go underground and experience a tin mine. It's a twisty road from st ives to get there and at first glance the admission price seems to overrate what you can see. Whilst we did the underground bit last on our... More

Fantastic museum - looks exactly as it would if the mine had shut down only yesterday. So well preserved and maintained with brilliant exhibitions and explanations. In a beautiful corner of Cornwalls coastline Staff really knowledgable, friendly and helpful. If you want to learn about Cornish mining history then you must visit. My 11 and 8 year old kids loved... The project to turn Geevor, which was a working tin mine until the late 1980s, into a heritage centre has created an extremely interesting attraction from what could be seen as unpromising material. It's not possible for visitors to descend into the 20th century mine workings, which are largely flooded, but earlier and shallower tin workings on the site have... More

Very informative, well displayed. Everything as it was when it stopped working. We didnt know cornwall was such a large tin producer, but we do now. Didnt do the underground tour so cannot offer any comments on that portion. There was a chap with dancing puppets providing a brief show on cornwall tin. The children (and adults) enjoyed his performance.
