A short drive from Coonabarabran and along the way to the Siding Spring Observatory, we called in to a nice picnic spot which is part of the Warrumbungle National Park, with its own babbling brook and impressive mountain escarpment in the background. It is a great spot to stop and enjoy the surrounding scenery of the Warrumbungle National Park and... More

Tented there for 3 nights. Lots of Kangaroo's to watch nearby. The facilities at the main caravan park, were clean and well maintained. Staff at the park office friendly and knowlegeable. The main trail on the way up to the Grand High Tops is relatively steep but the track has at least a kilometer of paver stones and somewhere between... More

We stayed in the Tibuc Gardens self-contained 2-bedroom cottage and spent a couple of amazing days exploring the Warrumbungle National Park. The staff at the National Park's Visitor Centre put us on the right track (sorry for the pun) with heaps of relevant information about the various graded walking tracks. Drawing from their advice we chose the White Gums Lookout... More

The grand high tops circuit walk is a absolute must do. It has frequent stunning views and awe inspiring rock formations. The 90 meter high by 1 meter wide bread knife formation is one of the best you will see. Camp ground facilities are top notch too.

Quick stop at White Gum Lookout, off John Renshaw Parkway. Lovely walk on an easy path to spectacular views. No toilets.

Amazing walk to do at least once in a lifetime ! Definitely is a 41/2 to 5 hour walk with breaks . Constant steep climbing is not for the unfit ! There is a bit of rock scrambling also if you choose to continue down to the shortcut back to the main track . Glad I did it again... the... More

Such a rugged landscape, a photographers paradise.....we drove into the park and was fortunate to be able to see just how beautiful the landscape is due to the bushfires experienced in 2013...exposing the natural beauty of the countryside with growth just returning

The National Park camp grounds are excellent and very large. The main Camp Blackman has 3 areas - powered and unpowered (camping and caravans). There are free hot showers that operate on a 5 minute sensor. Tip - you can re-activate immediately of 5 minutes doesn't wash the days dirt off. There are plenty of covered gas BBQs and fire... We had never been to the Warrumbungle's before, despite the rain, it was so beautiful. The camping spots along the River/Creek are some of the most picturesque spots we've seen, definitely worth the trip.
