My girlfriend and I wanted to treat ourselves with a nice and relaxing horse ride - very first one for both of us - something different to your usual wine-and-dine romantic getaway, you know... We both love horses, but had no experience riding before, so I've researched carefully, and Geoff's and Gail's website and mini-getaway package description stood out from the rest of Google links.

So I inquired about the ride and accommodation, and Geoff called me pretty much straight away, telling me about his horses, how seriously they take this - not just as a cash-making business - how respectful they are of nature around them, etc. - which generally produced the impression that I'm definitely talking to the right man.

Let me tell you, guys and girls, we weren't disappointed. It's not a 5 star accommodation, as far as your stay is concerned, but it's very acceptable for what it is, and oh boy is it authentic, properly Australian in the best sense of the word, experience of a relaxed farm stay that will stick in your memory for a long time.

Main attraction there obviously are the horses, and the ride itself. I'd also add - the owners are part of the experience, as Geoff takes his time to give you a very interesting and informative lecture on how to treat animals, specifically his horses, what to do and what not to do, AND WHY - it was amazing, I'm serious here... If you knew me guys - I'm not too picky or whatever, but I have standards, and it takes something really outstanding to earn my respect - without even trying hard. That's what Geoff and Gail did.

Considering a horse ride through lovely bush, a mountain ride through the forest, and don't really know where to go? Forget the commercial stuff of Hunter Valley - go see Geoff and Gail, and thank me later.

Enjoy guys, you won't regret it.

My boyfriend took me here for our first horse riding together. We were welcomed by Geoff and Megan on the day. Lovely Megan gave us instructions and also she was our guide throughout our horse riding trip, it was amazing! Thank you for the stories you shared, your hospitality and the love for animals :) We will come back again in summertime.
Best,
Katherine & Kay

Geoff and his wife were so helpful and Geoff's instructions on how to approach a horse and to ride were exceptional! The ride itself was an amazing experience as the views were breathtaking, with the sounds of chirping birds and fresh herb smells! Definitely recommend this to everyone visiting Kangaroo Valley!

I went there over the weekend for a lovely little getaway and the scenic walks through the rain forest was breathtaking.
Geoff was professional and briefed us thoroughly to ensure we fully understood the boundaries.

It was one the best experiences of horse riding i've had in NSW

We stayed with 14 people in the loft cabin and a separate double room. We had BBQ's, went on a trail ride and organised a kayak and local wine tasting in the area. Geoff and Gail were both great hosts, and the horses are extremely intelligent and you feel very safe rising them. We got special treatment at the winery that we organised through Geoff, and the kayaking was heaps of fun! Great weekend away, and so much value for money!

With little previous experience with horses, we booked in for a trail ride with Geoff. When booking we did say to Geoff that we were a bit nervous. Upon meeting Geoff he was very friendly, down to earth and made us feel very comfortable. Yes you do stand next to your horse for about 15 minutes prior to hopping on but it is not scary. Geoff or one of the girls are nearby to alleviate any fears. He gives a very thorough briefing beforehand and excellent service making sure everyone is comfortable and enjoying themselves. Excellent that he also remembered everyone's name on the ride! It was a fantastic experience and you get up to 500m above sea level. The only thing I was expecting was to go onto a ridge /lookout but it is more through the forest with some passing views (albeit breathtaking ones). Very good value for money and yes allow about 4 hours all up. Thank you Geoff, Kayla, Megan, Iron Mike and Adam!

Jeff loves his horses. You can tell from the get go as he trains you on how to treat the horses and how to ride them. The horse trail was refreshing and an enjoyable experience through the bush. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would not hesitate to recommend this activity!

I last went riding here 15 years ago and was thrilled to see they were still around. As an animal lover I was amazed at how much care they take of their horses. They are treated as family. The views from the escarpment looking over the kangaroo river and national park are stunning as is the wild life you may get lucky to spot along the way.

This is the second time that I have stayed with Geoff and Gail on their horse farm in the Kangaroo Valley! My children Olivia 13 - "horse mad" - and James "horse shy" - just love it! Geoff puts them in the back of the track in a beautiful morning with the sun shinning and they head off to feed the 33 horses (all male - 32 geldings and one stallion - and a couple of cows) in the paddocks! They chuck out the hay as Geoff drives them (carefully) around! He only took out one gate pole on our first visit! But then he showed James how to fix it - a townie boy gets a bit of insight into the way a farm works!

Geoff and Gail...and the horses ....and the beautiful country side make the whole experience! Don't expect five star accommodation (this is not "glamping") but it is perfectly adequate for a man who usually stays in the Hyatt in Canberra! Don't expect galloping over the fields - you are going to go up mountains, through forests, see snakes and the most beautiful Australian bush! There is no cantering, occasionally the horses will trot to keep up! But they are beautifully trained reflection Geoff and Gail's personalities - calm, considerate, kind, sympathetic - so that their horses, like their five dogs, follow them around the paddock! I have never seen such beautiful, well trained, and so loved horses - so happy in their environment!

Olivia was in the stables from day 1 mucking out and helping Geoff with all the day to day tasks! James and I - both of us frightened of horses - took our mountain bikes and had some glorious rides in the adjoining national park. But even we were convinced to go riding three of the four days in September after James had managed to bond with a horse using Geoff's techniques.

This is truly a magical experience but it is not about motor bike riding! This is not about getting on a horse and galloping off and ending up quadriplegic! This about understanding animals, horse whispering, "horsemanship", never ever using a whip! This is about a partnership! Child and horse!

So many kangaroos, so many wombats! So many birds! To me, this is heaven!

Go Geoff and Gail - you are amazing!
