Chase "n" Thyme Island Journeys - More than a tour, a journey through the island from early settlement to the present day and all the wonderful things in between. Come with your hosts Janine and Peter Phillipps on an entertaining and informal tour of Lord Howe Island's more interesting nooks and crannies! Janine can trace her origins through five generations to Nathan Chase Thompson who settled on the island in the 1850's. Peter was the island's postmaster for nearly ten years, he has had a number of the photos published in various articles as well as writing a book and producing two DVDs on Lord Howe Island's history. Think you know the island? After our tour you will know Lord Howe Island! You will learn more in a morning with us than you would if you spent a week searching things out for yourself. We get you "under the skin" of the Island, the "nuts and Bolts". There is more to this small island out in the South Pacific than first meets the eye, and you will have a way better holiday for the knowledge you gain! All Corners of the Island Tour! every day by demand pick up 9.10am (3.15 hours). A great introduction on what, where and how to do Lord Howe! What are the best walks? Where do you get the best photos? Includes visits to the local school, Government House the hospital and the Catalina monument! We point out many of the island's ever changing sea and land birds. The island's rare bird the endemic Woodhen and Kentia Palm.Learn all about the island's social history, early settlement, predators and pests, flora and fauna, ships, flying boats and the airstrip, island tales and even buried treasure! Cappuccino/tea and muffin at our secluded Ned's Beach home included with this tour.

This tour covers the whole island. Peter the tour host was great; very friendly, knowledgeable and willing to answer all our questions. The morning tea at his home was lovely and a nice touch. Would certainly recommend this tour to anyone visiting LHI.

Sue R, our aim has always been to both orientate and give options on things that may appeal. There is so much more to this little island in the Tasman Sea and we love sharing those things over a nice cuppa and a muffin.

Hi Lynne M, the behind the scenes aspects of the island are some of the most important issues we have. The isolation can create difficulties, generally we are doing a pretty good job looking after the island.
