Noted in National Geographic Traveler for its superb acoustics, the 1881 Opera House was an important stop on the old Vaudeville circuit. Today's schedule is diverse, from folk, rock, classical, and jazz. Recent renovations include a new steel roof, sound system and theater seats. Relaxed, intimate and all seats have a great view. The Opera House is located in the heart of Jim Thorpe's historic district, just a quick stroll to pubs, restaurants, lodging and shops.

Our group was two couples who love music and quirky performances. I thought the act billed, "40 story radio tower" would be sort of like The Prairie Home companion, and I think that's what they were going for. There was a featured band and then...More

The old opera house has been wonderfully restored. Great sound and lighting. The place has a "homey" feel, even though you're there for a live concert.

Beautiful old building that still needs some inside restoration work. Orchestra, mezzanine, and balcony. Stage is raised about 4 ft so the flat-seated orchestra has good view from anywhere. They need to invest in some additional/upgraded sound equipment but not bad. Saw a great blues...More

This looks like a really cool venue. They didn't have any shows when we were there but the staff was nice enough to let us look all around and give us some history. They even sold us a t-shirt.

Fabulous venue for a concert. Bar upstairs and downstairs, along with a snack bar offering homemade pastries. Also it has a interesting history. Great sound quality, and reasonable prices.

This place rocks. They are the nicest owner and only book the best talents. You really can't go wrong going here no matter who is playing. They DO NOT hire junk bands.. seriously good musicians only. Family friendly place. Been here a ton of times...More

This was our second visit here and we enjoyed it. I like the mix of vintage architecture while seeing modern music acts. It is a small venue but that can be fun like last night. They have a constant parade of acts, many of them...More

Acoustically, they are all good. If you want a great overall view, balcony seats are great, too but truly, tutti soon benissimo! Spero vederli!
