If the doors are locked listen to summary in your car on 530 am .. there was a park ranger at the boat launch that told us about Zane gray as well. Interesting stop before hitting the river for some real fun!

Interesting, but there's not much to it

A famous author and a historic house on a river....sounds good to me, except one only gets to tour the three main rooms on the ground floor. We were done in 15 minutes (by moving slowly and reading every placard).

Interesting bit of history

This museum is open May-October. It was Zane Greys home and it very interesting with all his memorabilia and books. His grave is Nextdoor in the cemetery. Robeling bridge is nearby and worth a stop, too. And there is a great deli just up by the Lacawaxen River where you can get a good meal and a view of the river.

Although closed, lovely grounds
Oct. 2018 • Couples
Only open on weekends, this is a lovely site close to the Roebling Bidge which we also wanted to see. Although we could not go in, there was a recorded description you could listen to on your car radio. It was very informative. Unfortunately we were only in the area until the next day, Friday, so we missed seeing inside.

The weird part was trying to get directions from Siri on our smartphone. She kept insisting that there was no Zane Grey Museum. We finally got directions from Google. Someone needs to inform Siri that the museum exists. It is worth the visit.

Zane Grey Home

This was a very interesting glimpse into the life of Zane Grey. It is part of the National Park system. He started out playing baseball, became a dentist, then decided he wanted to be a writer. Very interesting.

History of a Writer

First time to Zanesville. The museum was interesting and fantastic. First time that I looked at the life of a writer from Ohio who loved adventure!
A must-see for any one who loves to read!

Very Interesting

This a very interesting museum which covers many phases of Zane Grey's life. If you're lucky enough to be there during one of their open houses, there are full guided tours of the grounds and more information on the history of the place. Very nice people. The museum itself is quite small but many interesting exhibits.

Glad This Home Was Preserved
Jun. 2018 • Couples
I was glad to see that Zane Grey's home in Lackawaxen has been preserved, though the exterior could use a new paint job. I especially enjoyed visiting the nearby cemetery where Grey and his wife are buried -- in view of the home. The hours are not extensive, so be sure to check ahead of time. The museum would be most interesting to avid Zane Grey readers interested in his life. Others may not find it too exiting.

Hidden Gem!

This is a great museum but make sure you check their hours and the days that they are open. We were fortunate that our host at the Roebling Inn on the Delaware called the museum and they opened up for my wife and I. I never realized what a world traveler he was nor the fact that he had been an active baseball player. This house is fantastic.
