I've visited as many presidents' homes on the East Coast as I have been able to. I have yet to find one that is as attractive and as livable as this one. The grounds are just gorgeous, the first floor has a lovely symmetry, and...More

Toured our 15th president's home during the Christmas holiday! It was decorated beautifully! Each room was decorated for a different decade. Tour guide was great. He answered any and all questions that were asked.

We learned so much from our lovely guide, and she was very patient with our two children (they are pretty well behaved, but still - this is a "no touch" kind of place and she kept the pace good for them.) Highly recommend watching the...More

My wife and I visited James Buchanan’s Wheatland between Christmas and New Year’s 2018. The home was decorated for Christmas and the special feature was “Yuletide at Wheatland.” The tour was GREAT and our guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. But the price was a...More

Thank you for taking the time to review LancasterHistory. Each year Wheatland has a special Yuletide Program. It is our time of the year to make money to ensure the success of our history and the museum.

Enjoyed this tour and visiting the museum . We each paid $17.00. Our tour guide at the house was very knowledgeable and answered all questions. She welcomed questions and we were able to take pictures and we didn't feel rushed. The house is worth seeing....More

My husband and I went to Wheatland on a Saturday afternoon. We enjoy visiting presidents' homes. Wheatland was interesting and many, many original items to Buchanan. However, once upstairs I was overwhelmed by a very musty, moldy smell that was actually starting to make me...More

This is a really good thing to see while you are in Lancaster Pennsylvania and especially if you are from here. James Buchanan might not have been the best president of the United States, but it is still worth seeing his home place. The guides...More

The tour guides are in period clothing. They are very knowledgeable and tell the story of our only bachelor president and his family. The short film in the historical society building before the tour is also very good. Well worth your time to visit if...More
