The Lancaster Marionette Theatre is one of the few marionette theatres in America, located in Historic Downtown Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Robert Brock, the founder and Artistic Director, keeps this unique art form alive and well. He creates all the marionettes used in HIW productions, writes the scripts and music and performs in his unique one-man style. His humor appeals to children, as well as grown-ups. The John Durang Puppet Museum is open before performances. John Durang was the first puppeteer to be born in the USA. He was born in Lancaster in 1768. Backstage tours are given prior to every performance. The Marionette Theatre welcomes field trip groups. We hope to see you soon at one of our exciting shows. Thanks for visiting!

We visited the Lancaster Marionette Theatre for the first time today. What a joy to see such imaginative work and to meet a gentleman with such passion for sharing his art. We brought our young one and the show was just long enough to entertain and just short enough to hold her attention the entire time. Definitely come early enough... More

What a fascinating place! A fun and amazing adventure for children of all ages. From the incredible museum and the educational and amusing backstage tour - to the delightful show itself. Robert Brock is extremely talented and entertaining and his self-created marionettes are beautiful and whimsical. And his mother is a sweetheart. This 58-year-old kid is never going to miss... More

Wow. What a fun way for children to see live theater--- and get hooked for life. Our 5-year-old grandchild LOVED the play Cinderella's Christmas that we saw today. There was an informative tour before the performance to see how the marionette's are made--- followed by the play. Very entertaining for children and adults--- and the 35 minute production was just... More

Went with our daughter who thought it was great! Backstage tour before the show was fun, and we all loved the show. We go to every show they do, because they are all great.

There is still a December 26th performance of Cinderella's Christmas. Robert Brock makes the marionettes, gives a backstage tour, and singlehandedly stages and sings all the musical numbers to Christmas tunes with an audience-participation Jingle Bells finale. A wonderful show for all ages. We attend with a six-year old and enjoy it as much as she does. Well worth a... More

Loved the XMas themed Cinderella show! Had a blast with adult friends and their kids. Go early and get the tour of the workshop before the main event. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

The Lancaster Marionette theater is a must see when in town. Robert is so talented - making the marionettes, doing the costumes, writing the shows, and making the performance a unique experience! The back stage tour was so interesting and Robert is such a gracious host! Fun for ALL ages. We saw Cinderella Christmas and it was just great! Loved... More

This was a unique, colorful, creative, awesome performance by Robert Brock and his marionettes. He is so talented - he has traveled the world performing and teaching and learning. We saw "Peter Pan" and he was giving life to all the puppets - their actions and voices, (and he had carved and painted and "made" them). His mother is also... More
