Overview
More
The Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery, established in 1861, is the first commercial pretzel bakery in America. As of August 2007, the site is under new ownership. The bakery and store have been completely renovated and are now operated once again by the Sturgis family. Visitors can tour the original pretzel bakery, see soft pretzels being made by hand, and find pretzels baked by the oldest pretzel baking family in the United States.

This trip was a revisit to a place went to with my cousins about forty years ago when I was a teenager. It's still fun to go and learn how to twist a pretzel and how/why the pretzel was invented.

A bit of a distance from other shops on Main Street. Didn't take the tour but checked out the pictures and store. Store is very small and hard to look around when the line forms. Youth cashier, okay customer service but very robotic speech. Long...More

This was the best $6 I've ever spent. I took my 7 year old son and he loved learning how to make a pretzel. You even get a free bag of pretzels at the end.

This was a great little tour to take. Doesn't last more than 45 minutes, so it won't take all your time - but very informative, fun, and the staff is very friendly. You get a real glimpse into how thing were done 100 yrs ago....More

We were on a weekend getaway and were in the Lancaster area. We stopped here and found it a great tour. I wouldn't say to travel far and make this your only stop. It's a quick tour or pretzel making in the original bakery where...More
