The chapel on the University of Pittsburgh campus is open to visitors and well worth seeing. A docent is available to tell you about the chapel, or you can tour on your own. Modeled after European cathedrals, this chapel features soaring ceilings above stone arches and very tall stained glass windows with intricate Biblical scenes depicted in the mosaics. While... More

This building is beautiful. They let you walk around for as long as you like and there's no charge to go. It is stunning, can't describe, must go see this while in Pittsburgh!

We wandered in just to look around and were given a tour by a graduate student named Greg (I think, he was from Reading, PA) It was informative and simply a bonus to our trip. Then he played the Organ. Oh my. I learned so much. It was a truly memorable visit. Thank you.

I saw this from a distance as I was taking a stroll through the campuses. As I approached I was hoping I could go inside. You can! The windows must be seen from inside. So beautiful. Some are enormously tall. Take a moment to take it all in. While I was there some guy was practicing on the organ and... More

If you visit the Oakland section of Pittsburgh--going to the University of Pittsburgh or Carnegie Mellon--a visit to the Heinz Chapel is well worth the time and effort. In addition to the soaring nave, most notable and impressive are the blue stained glass windows. This chapel takes you back to medieval Europe; it can be seen in a half-hour, but... More

This is a beautiful building and I would definitely put t on my list of sites to see. The young man at the desk showed us around and told us about the Chapel and the windows. He also treated us to a song on the organ. He explained to us how it worked and showed us the different sounds that... More

From European point of view this is peculiar to built something like this in 20th century, but it looks quite unique and interesting in the middle of Oakland and adds a bit of medieval mystery to modern vicinity :) Beautiful stained-glass windows inside

A must see Chapel. The inside is beautiful! The carpentry and stain glass is out of this world. The structure on how and why it was build was interesting. Very interesting.

More of the gothic stone architecture from the Pittsburgh barons of industry. I have been to quite a few local weddings and concerts here and it does take you back in time.

I have never traveled to Europe but have seen numerous pictures of the interiors of many of the most famous Gothic cathedrals. That was the first thing I thought as I walked into Heinz Memorial Chapel for the very first time. Other reviews have discussed the dim lighting of the chapel but it was accented with vivid blues from the... More
