I love the aviary and have become a member since they have a lot of fun things to see and do. They have grown a lot over the years and my favorite things to see are the indoor/outdoor penguin exhibit, the bats, and the sloth that we have watched grow from a tiny little guy. The open air aviary sections... More

We really enjoyed being able to be up close to the birds. It was very educational. I would recommend feeding the lorikeets.

Both grown ups and children of our family loved this aviary, and we spent most of the day here. So much to see, and not only birds in all sizes and colours. There were penguins and a tropical rain forest exhibit too. The kids loved the condors and the bald eagle, and they were thrilled when they got to feed... More

We went there the day after Christmas and it was packed. I recommend going about 3 PM if you want to see the lights at night. By 5 PM there was a line out the door and to the street and down the block. Beautiful displays.

I am not a bird watcher by any stretch of the definition but we couldn't pass up stopping at The National Aviary while we had the opportunity. I am so glad we did. I am a photography enthusiast and this was a terrific way to expand my skill set. I was able to share some of the beauty from The... More

The National Aviary contains a wide assortment of birds -- from tiny finches to the largest flying bird in America - the condor. The aviary houses a nice penguin exhibit, a tropical rainforest exhibit and several other rooms with a variety of birds. There are informative signs as well as information as to what the public can do to assure... More

Great place to see a very wide variety of birds and learn about the different environments they live in. You can feed the birds and see some of them being walked around for people to pet or see up close. Small restaurant on site.

1 of 2 aviaries in the US. Fabulous guides and selection of birds! There is even a small restaurant, and frequent bird feedings with lectures!

Spent ~2 hours at the aviary exploring the different environments and the birds that live in them. Some fun feeding shows allow closer interaction (some with modest fees for the chance). There are also premium interactive activities which come at significant premium prices. Bring your wallet if anyone wants to play with a penguin! Parking was only $5 but the... More
