Beautiful building; felt like the wizarding world

Beautiful gothic building in the center of Pitt. Reminiscent of Harry Potter. Can always find your way back by looking up.

The Cathedral of Learning is a 42 story tower on the main Oakland campus of the University of Pittsburgh, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Commons Room is a four-stores room that has a deliciously spooky Gothic atmosphere that reminds many of Hogwart's in the Harry Potter novels. But this one is real and accessible,... More

See this place - it is fascinating, overwhelming, beautiful, and oddly oppressive, all at the same time. A human-made wonder of construction and design. International rooms are awesome too.

visited on a Saturday. The international rooms are on the 3rd floor. Not all are open on Saturdays. Some rooms have students or meetings using them. Hit the audio button in each room to get details and history.

The Cathedral of Learning looks strange from the outside, but is stunning as soon as you walk in the door. I can only imagine what it must be like as a student here to work and study in this incredible environment. Some of my colleagues even said it was like walking into the world of Harry Potter!

Incredible Gothic style building that houses the University of Pittsburgh Cultural rooms as well as a world class installation of Samuel Yellin's turn of the century metal work. Breathtakingly high vaulted ceilings and 42 floors of classrooms. Be adventurous and walk to the top like the training hikers do or take the elevators for spectacular views of surrounding Oakland.

There are very few rooms that are open and the audio device they provide is very helpful. If not for that then the visitors are just walking in and out of some rooms.

Every visit here can be amazing. With the tours to the international cultural rooms, to the breathtaking architecture, to going to the top floor and seeing wonderful sites of the city.. do it all and don't forget to ask lots of questions. I take all my outside friends and family here as well as anyone who I know who is... More

We visited this place over Christmas and it was all decorated for the holidays. Each different class room was decorated in the style of the country it represented, according to their customs. The kids loved it too. It's great to visit during other times other than the holidays, as each classroom is designed around different countries. Very reasonably priced also,... More
