It was the year 1829 when Americans were getting used to their newly elected president, Andrew Jackson, that 23-year old David G. Yuengling, an immigrant from Wurttemberg, Germany, settled in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, and started a brewery.

Originally named the Eagle Brewery, today the Yuengling pride, symbolic of the American Eagle. Each Yuengling label bears the eagle trademark chosen by young David Yuengling so long ago.

Previously located on Centre Street, current site of Pottsville's after only two years of operation. A new brewery was then constructed on Mahantongo Street, where operations

continue today.

The brewery remains family operated by Richard "Dick" Yuengling, Jr. and his daughters are being groomed as the sixth generation.

Loved the tour! Couldn't get enough! They explained everything nicely and gave time for us to take pictures. The tour guide was extremely friendly and the taste testing at the end was perfect. The gift shop was filled with treasures and I left with a large amount of goodies that anyone would love.

Though we've enjoyed their products for years, we've never been on a tour of the brewery until today. Located on some narrow side streets in historic Pottsville, this was a gem that even the women in the group enjoyed. Starting off in the gift shop/museum across the street, we were escorted by our guide, Sarah, into many different parts of... More

While on an extended road trip, we had a forecast bad weather day and I proposed a visit to Pottsville. The tour staff at Yuengling did a great job. I expected about a 45 minute tour, but it lasted nearly an hour and a half. After the tour, we had the opportunity to sample some of the Yuengling products only... More

Such a great tour. But, wear closed toe shoes. I've been on the public tour and private tour. This takes you back. The gift shop is terrific as well.

Yuengling beer is a delicious lager exclusive to the eastern United States. My family has a couple Yuengling fanatics so the tour was a must. It was a nice combination of history and education on the beer brewing process.

We joined the 10 am guided tour on a Monday morning. It was really interesting to see the old caves and the modern production facilities and to hear the stories about the beginnings of business (yet another one with German roots), the prohibition period with the switch to ice cream production and the development of the company in recent years.... Great People and great piece of history. Tours are free and do is tasting. Root beer makes it kid friendly. A fine family and tradition. They even still give their employees a Turkey for Thanksgiving!

We took a drive up to Pottsville PA to take a tour with my sister and her husband. We made the 10 AM tour and had a great tour with Amber, our tour guide. Lots of information about the process and the brewery is steeping with so much history. They have a new museum, visitor center across the street from... More

It is really neat that you actually get to go into the brewery itself. The beer "caves" is one of the coolest parts of the whole tour. You get to enjoy 2 samples of their beer afterwards which is a nice bonus. A really great free activity for those who enjoy historical tours and/or beer. I would not recommend for... More
