A great Walk in the forrest
Sep. 2020
An excellent state park for hiking and walking your dogs. The trails aren't very well marked and signs need to be updated, They also need to trim the weeds back from the trails. Especially blackberry bushes.

Peaceful State Park
Jun. 2020
Just made a quick stop on my way back to Pittsburgh. It was a Saturday and surprisingly not that busy. Was able to check out a few trails. Came across a small waterfall and everything was peaceful and serene around here. There's a rocky creek that runs along the main road. I found a bridge on my way back to the car, and it's a real nice place to stop and sit and just think about things for a while. I wish I knew how to do that.

Very nice State Park. A little more signage to get to the beginning of trails would be helpful. Trails are pleasant to use. Popular area.

Love the whole camp. Visit it numerous times every year . Sometime to stay overnight, other times just a day trip. Very restful. Getting ready for a winter trip there this afternoon!

Cabin #1
Sep. 2018
Linn Run turned out to be a wonderful surprise for us. We stayed in Cabin 1. It was clean, well cared for, and absolutely gorgeous. The bubbling creek was just steps from our door. And the park itself is lovely.

Beautiful and an hour away from the 'Burgh!
Aug. 2018 β€’ Couples
Our favorite go to for a quick scenic hike. Beautiful waterfalls and wild streams make for amazing scenery. Amazingly this area was a clearcut wasteland 100 years ago! Some cool RR paths to follow. Endless mountain biking! Wolf Rocks and Beam Rocks are must see hikes. Plenty of room to explore. The nearby Forbes State Forest has some great backpacking and the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail has two Adirondack Shelter sites that make for a nice overnight backpack trip for Pittsburgher's on a tight schedule.
The forest roads are easily ridden on a mountain bike. A little to rough for a road bike though!! My Chevy Impala gets around 90% of the roads 90% of the year so it's easy to venture off into the wilderness for a quick get away.
There can be logging traffic and recent storms have washed out Fish Run trail and Laurel Run Road. Making access a little tough, but it also has kept the park very quiet lately!!
Wear good boots, this is a very rocky area!

Great Day for a Hike
May 2018 β€’ Family
Decided to visit Linn Run State Park on this beautiful Memorial Day weekend. We went on Adam Falls Trail. It was a mile long loop. About half of the trail was very rocky and slippery after the recent rains. I would recommend hiking shoes for traction. Not too crowded at all.
Picnic tables are available for after the hike to have a snack. We drove past nice looking cabin for rent within the park as well. Stop at the park office for a map.

Restful week in a rustic cabin
Aug. 2017 β€’ Couples
We spent a week in a "primitive cabin" which had a stove, fridge, and microwave although not running water. However the pump was only about 50 feet away. The creek which tumbled past the front of the cabin was quite high at the beginning, after some heavy rain, but was just a picturesque babbling brook in a few days. We enjoyed a couple of nature hikes with the park ranger, one of which went to Adams falls and also travelled a few miles up the mountain to the bog at the top which was also well worth a visit. The shower/bathroom facilities were clean and nearby, and well-lit and secure (a key was needed.) The park staff were very considerate and helpful. It was a shady and cool refuge in summer. Ligonier was only a short drive away for a little history at the fort, and shopping.

Definitely not a cut trail...rocks limbs. Beautiful scenery...hike isn't to hard but be sure footed...

Linn Run Cabin #5
Mar. 2018
stayed 3-23 to 3-25
--easy instructions for late arrival --grab key at the office which was 2 min up the road. We had just had a major snow even a few days earlier but surprisingly the roads were in great shape. The cabin was heated well on our arrival --cleaning was just ok..there were many cobwebs but the main issue was the fridge was kinda nasty--the area by the crispers on the bottom looked like there was blood on them--yuck --
The park looks very nice --due to the weather we didnt do much traveling . The park is very secluded as in , little to no cell service but thats what we went for ;) There is a giant eagle about 8 miles away --so that was nice.
I understand that these are rustic cabins and I knew there were pit toilets but also a bathhouse . The pit toilets actually stank which I was surprised by , considering it was 20 degrees--i was ok with this due to being close to the shower house with flush toilets but there was only 1 toilet and 2 showers --seems very odd when you have 9 cabins to only have 1 toilet and 1 sink . My husband had to wait in line in the morning --
All in all it was a good trip --very pretty suroundings--we had a stream right outside our cabin which was awesome . They also have 2 chairs ,a fire pit and a grill outside --with a picnic table under the porch .
