Established as an assembly facility in 1973, Harley-Davidson Vehicle Operations in York, PA assembles the Touring, Softail®, CVO™ and Trike models. They also perform a variety of manufacturing operations - making parts like frames, fuel tanks, and fenders. At the Vaughn L. Beals Tour Center, you'll explore exhibits that detail the manufacturing and assembly processes of the factory. You'll also have the chance to sit on current production motorcycles and visit the gift shop for tour-related souvenirs. The Kids Corner, a specially designed area for visitors under the age of 12, makes the York facility an ideal family destination. Your factory tour begins with an introductory video and continues on the factory floor where you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at the people, processes and products of Vehicle Operations. You'll be guided through the manufacturing of key components and the assembly of Softail, Touring, CVO and Trike motorcycles. Then it's on to the end of the line, where every motorcycle is roll-tested prior to shipping. Really cool to see one of Harley’s production factories. Actually get to go on factory floor and see the bikes being made. Unfortunately, we couldn’t see the actual assembly line because the 2019 bikes are being unveiled, but worth it anyway. Besides, it’s free! Lots...More

If we had planned better in timing, it would have been better. They were 3 weeks from unveiling to their dealers, the 2019 models so some of the factory was temporarily off limits for the tour. Plus we showed up right at lunchtime. But it...More

It’s really remarkable how modern and advanced this facility is. The bikes they are producing are much farther advanced than I had ever thought. The tour takes you through the process as well as how the machines work. Even if you are not a rider...More

After visiting the Museum and Power Plant Operations in Wisconsin last year, we felt it was important to visit Vehicle Operations this year. After recently purchasing a new FLHX (Street Glide) I wanted to see where she came from. While the tours are limited because...More

We visited during the model year (2018-2019) changeover, and therefore, received a somewhat abbreviated tour. Our tour guide (Don) was very informative, and apologetic for not being able to show us more. We WILL return at a better time. We enjoyed the Gift Shop and...More

Had great potential but unfortunately the assembly lines were not operational due to model year change. Nonetheless, seeing the robotics etc. on the tour was very interesting.

We enjoyed the tour tremendously. We opted for the one you pay for and so glad. We received a vest, pin, and (borrowed) steel toes to go over our shoes. Great guide. Thanks so much!

Very interesting way to spend a few hours. Staff was really informative and friendly. Even if you are not a motorcycle enthusiast its worth the time.

We took the free tour and enjoyed it. We has had to wait about 30 minutes after we signed in. They have quality headsets they talk through so you can hear the tour guide over the factory noise. It lasted a bit over an hour.
