Bristol's claim to fame is they have the longest continuous running 4th of July celebration in the USA starting c 1777. Bristol is a peninsula and has about 22,000 permanent residence. It is a typical, small seaport town and fun place to visit.

Bristol is....Quintessential "Main Street" America. A must if you enjoy leisurely strolls and like to stop and admire beautifully restored historic homes and buildings. It's like a living museum. Lots of little shops and a few museums in the area. Venture beyond Hope Street and...More

The main street of historic Bristol, RI has that classic main street America feel to it. Small shops, easy walking and sight seeing.

Great place to walk around morning, afternoon or evening, Lots of good restaurants (Papa Joe's Wrap Shack for Bristolian Pizza is personal favorite), boutiques, spas, coffee shop, and of course nearby Gray's Ice Cream on Thames Street.

We had lunch at Aidan's and enjoyed a stroll around the historic homes and town buildings. Harbormasters building, an old armory is of great interest, as are numerous churches in the area.

I used to live near Hope St. It's a nice, safe place to go for a walk. There are little shops and restaurants. Definetly a good area to check out.

Yes, off of Thames Street, but it is paid parking. Most other spots you have to have a tag for parking on certain streets, but we have many public parking spots available. On our 4th of July no parking on the parade route.
