Looking for something to do that is family fun and educational without electronic distraction. Minimal travel from 1-20min anywhere in RI, small quaint location 1 hr tour that keeps kids attention, questions welcomed great tour staff. This trip stimulates "Real Time" Conversations.allows the kids to visually see what history looked like and encourages grandparents to reminisce promoting their own stories/conversations/dialogue.... This Homestead is 5 minutes from our house. Never went. At Christmas I wanted to see the house decorated for Christmas. We were amazed at so much history. They named a submarine after him. They have an re-enactment in July 2017, which we hear the bombs from our house every year. They dress in the period clothing. You would enjoy... More

I brought my boys here July 4. Everyone was dressed in period clothing. All staff were so welcoming and knowledgeable. House was in beautiful shape and work was being done on the grounds. I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting RI.

I'm a Revolutionary War reenactor, so this site was high on my list during my trip to Rhode Island. The caretaker/tour guide Trish was awesome, and also a reenactor. Great collection of period furniture. If you are a photographer like me, you can take pics inside. Also visit the Gilbert Stuart birthplace which is nearby.

This visit was spontaneous as I saw the signs along the road for Nathaniel Greene' Homestead. I followed the signs into a neighborhood, parking is across the street. Unfortunately, this place is only open on Monday, Friday, and Sunday; I was here on Wednesday. I still got out of my car, looked around on the outside and read the information... More

Firstly I must note that I know the president of the General Greene Homestead Association. He's a longtime friend, (both he & his sister) & they are descendants of the general as well. That being mentioned I will still give a fair assessment of my visit. I have been to the homestead & toured it before last year. They have... More

I have been visiting the Greene Homestead for the past 5 years, every time I visit they have vastly improved the look of the property. New parking area, recently cleared fields, roads reopened for the first time in two centuries!! Hiking trails, fishing, excellent and knowledgeable tour guides. And to cap it off a great Revolutionary War Encampment and Reenactment... More

Being a history teacher, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see the Homestead. Nathanael was an important part of the American Revolution. The tour guide was informative and the home is well preserved.

Loved this place. Please go visit! It does have some room for improvement as other reviews noted -- I'd loved to have heard more stories mixed in with the historical facts, the video could use an update, and it was a little hard to find -- but the enthusiastic staff is doing a great job with their limited resources, and...
