Second (Sachuest) Beach is my go to beach! For the New England coast, the waves can be phenomenal and a slow approach into the water can be tricky! I love to "catch the perfect wave" and body surf into shore! Especially on weekends, get there...More

Go solo or with a friend- get those hiking boots on and get some exercise while enjoying the sea air and the view. You might even see a deer like I did on Sunday. The ocean loop is 1.5 miles! Family friendly. But, no pets...More

Much nicer than Easton's Beach and with Purgatory chasm at one end. Porta-loos available. Add a walk down around the bird sanctuary. The beach is about 2km (1.2 miles) long .

We were staying in Newport & wanted to hike with views & this was very satisfying. Short drive from Newport with good parking & a visitor center. We had an easy, flat hike with the ocean on one side. There were a number of wildflowers...More

This was the most wonderful walk. Beautiful level, gravel walks with plenty of benches. Great views of the ocean. Be sure to stop in the visitor center.

Looking to escape some of the tourist crowds in Newport, RI., we wandered onto Second beach. No services, just a loo, quiet, beautiful view and easy parking. Short drive from First Beach.

I found this beach to be a great fit for me and my friends when we went to Newport. The beach is right near St. George's school, and although getting there there was sometimes traffic, parking was directed very well and not far from the...More

Very pretty, clean, good waves, nice sand. Food could be a bit better and price could be a bit less but best in the area.

Beaches to me are "a little slice of heaven", so I enjoyed 5 hours of relaxation here at Sachuest (Second) Beach. Briefly went in the water, but enjoyed dozing in and out with the sounds of the waves, birds crying out, and screams of children...More

Wondering about parking for nonresidents off season (as in this weekend). We will be in town for Salve graduation and would like to go to either surfers end or second beach. Are facilities open? If there is non permit parking cost? Any details appreciated!

Before 8am and after hours during the season, you can probably just park across the street and walk on with no fee. There are a couple of smaller lots near the "rock" part of the beach. I have seen port-o potties... More
Can you stay at the beach after the lifegaurds leave? And can you stay there until like 7pm or 8pm?

Yes! That's the best time of day after most people leave. It's very peaceful, but swim at your own risk.
Hello, I am asking if there is a life guard after labor day and do the bathrooms stay open after labor day. If so, for how long. Thank you.

I'm not sure, but you could contact the town of Middletown since the website doesn't have this info.
