Great way to start the day, or come for a sunset photo op over St. Georges/ second beach...the paths are sturdy for using a cane or walking sticks.

Lots of room to let the young ones run wild!! Safe and well maintained make it a family favorite. We especially love the frog pond!

Check in at the visitor's building & pay a fee (I think it was $6 per person). You get a map & explanation of the various hiking trails. We kept it simple & didn't try to hike to Hanging Rock. Our hike was relatively easy although you have to be mindful of exposed rocks & tree roots. It was a... More

The beginning of the trail is a nice gravel path. The signage is very poor. Caretakers, please take my $6 entrance fee and buy a can of spray paint and write directions on the blank pieces of wood nailed to the trees. Caution. There are some sections that are very rocky and steep, and slippery due to gravel, leaves and... More

It was a very hot day, and as a senior citizen, how I wish they had benches to stop and sit and rest. Only one that I saw on a trail, and it was sloped down towards the ground, not level. Even the building/gift shop did not have a bench. Benches outside in the sun. Sturdy shoes for walking, and... More

What a great place to walk around and take in nature at its best. Relax, reflect and just enjoy. The birds we saw were nice and seemed to enjoy themselves at the sanctuary, check it out for a nice relaxing time.

The Norman Bird Sanctuary offers an affordable option for families with kids. The trails range from easy to hard. The chance of seeing wildlife is great (e.g. deer, frogs, birds, etc). Once children are old enough to navigate the trail to Hanging Rock, what a reward!

We really wanted to hike around the Norman Bird Sanctuary, but most signs on the trails were missing or hard to find, and the map we were given (we use maps all the time) wasn't especially helpful. It's too bad, because we're sure that this can be a nice spot. But if our experience is an indicator, it might be... More

Sanctuary offers a wide variety of environments; fields, brush, forest, swamp and salt marsh. Trails are set up to allow great viewing from the ground level or above as ridge top trails take you above the canopy. Nice visitor center, too.
