The Norman Bird Sanctuary offers an affordable option for families with kids. The trails range from easy to hard. The chance of seeing wildlife is great (e.g. deer, frogs, birds, etc). Once children are old enough to navigate the trail to Hanging Rock, what a reward!

We really wanted to hike around the Norman Bird Sanctuary, but most signs on the trails were missing or hard to find, and the map we were given (we use maps all the time) wasn't especially helpful. It's too bad, because we're sure that this can be a nice spot. But if our experience is an indicator, it might be... More

Sanctuary offers a wide variety of environments; fields, brush, forest, swamp and salt marsh. Trails are set up to allow great viewing from the ground level or above as ridge top trails take you above the canopy. Nice visitor center, too.

This was a wonderful place to go relax and be one with nature. I saw about six or seven different bird species while here. It is nice to stop by the pond and wait for them to fly past. There were some wild turkeys walking along one of the trails, and there is also a chicken coupe! In addition to... More

The birding at Norman Bird Sanctuary is less than desirable, at least during June. There are many Swallows, but few of any other interesting birds. It is always on a list of sites to see for birders, but, I am not impressed. The grounds are kept comparatively well, but, nothing to write home about. I found nothing extraordinary at this... More

The trails are well marked and there is a variety of scenery, from woodlands to ponds, to meadows. Besides birds, we also came across a deer very close up. The staff was very helpful in directing us where to go based on what we wanted to see.

I have been here many times. The educational programs they offer are fantastic - only $8 for members and $10 for non-members. A household membership is only $65 and is the best deal! 7 1/2 miles of trails of all sorts, meadow, rocks, forest, ridges (hanging rock). The naturalists are more than willing to help you out and speak with... More

I have been there many times for the Harvest Fair, but have never taken the time to walk the trails. What a treat, there are many well marked trails for different walking levels and all of these are just beautiful. Whoever is responsible for the maintenance of this vast place should pat themselves on the back for a job that... More
