Hunting Island is a beautiful area that is unspoiled. it took an awful hit from two hurricanes and has a lot of erosion. However, you can still enjoy the beach and climb the light house. The camp ground is closed at the time being.

Loved the area, especially the lighthouse and the beach. Highly suggest it. Partially closed due to the hurricane.

The hurricane damage is still evident but the park is open & people are once again on the beach & visiting the lighthouse. You can see the damaged trees that remain in their natural state as the regrowth begins. A great example of how the...More

Wished we packed a picnic and some beach chairs. The lighthouse views are worth the extra $2 if you can climb the 200(ish) steps.

Same as the other responder, Hunting Island will be closed until early 2018 due to Irma, not sure if sites have been washed out or reconfigured, so may want to check back next year.

The park as well as the beach is closed. They will not allow you to go on the beach. Besides, it would be very dangerous.
