Very well preserved lighthouse compound. Talked to two volunteers who were very helpful and informative. Interesting history of the area and the lighthouse was open to climb. Beautiful views. Not a hard climb, plenty of room to pause to rest. The beach was refreshing, we...More

Took my family here for their first experience with the beach. As a person who was raised in Beaufort it broke my heart to see what hurricane Matthew did to the landscape but it was still a wonderful visit. The roads are still in quite...More

We came to the park for a small wedding and were blown away by how beautiful and picturesque the beaches were. I can't imagine how the beaches would have looked before the hurricane last year. I can't believe that the Vietnam scenes from Forrest Gump...More

My husband and I debated even reviewing this park because it's so awesome and we would hate to see it become super crowded, especially certain portions of the beach. The light house was a quick and interesting visit. If you are in reasonable shape you...More

The weather was perfect while we were there. The waters so warm and inviting. I enjoyed the rocks jetting above the sea and watching the sea life. It was very nice having gift shop/food establishment/bathroom facilities so close to where we set up our tent...More

Absolutely stunning in spite of obvious damage from Hurricane Matthew. Felt like driving through a jungle paradise as we followed signs to the beach. Gorgeous beach with shade trees, great for shelling. Unfortunately we arrived too late to climb the lighthouse but that looked like...More

The park as well as the beach is closed. They will not allow you to go on the beach. Besides, it would be very dangerous.

Yes, while on a leash. They are also allowed at the campground, as long as they are attended to. Dogs love the park! Hope that helps.
