This was probably the least interesting house of those we visited but its claim to fame is the furniture. It is owned by the museum and while not original to the house, it is certainly historically important if you love antique furniture.

Seemingly a bit out of the way, if anything is out of the way in Charleston! It is still close to the other spots. It is just one of the many gems available on the Charleston Heritage Passport, purchased at the Charleston Visitors Center. We were not disappointed with any of the houses viewed.

This historic home is filled with antique furniture and its claim to fame is that George Washington stayed in one of the rooms. Our guide, though it was late in the day, did a wonderful job of keeping things interesting and pointing out all of the unique furniture in each room. He also did a great job of answering many... A really spectacular house and garden lovingly restored by the Charelston Museum. Amazing antiques and a real slice of Revolutionary history.

Both the Hayward - Washington house and the Manigault house are owned by the Charlston museum. They are about a mile or less apart but it is an easy walk. I thoroughly enjoyed the Manigault house tour and so had high hopes for this. However, the docent seemed tired and in a rush and just seemed to be giving basic... More

Tour guide was personable, knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Since the house in not occupied, we got to see both the upstair and downstairs, as well as the outside kitchen and gardens. Well worth the time.

Lovely house. Good tour guide. the ticket seems a bit pricey but the place clearly has some upkeep . It is a truly enjoyable trip back in time. The gardens were enjoyable as well. Note there is a portrait by Samuel Morse the inventor of the Morse Code/telegraph.

My sister wanted to visit Charleston and I recommended this tour which we attended last year. It has a fantastic collection of Charleston furniture. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and informative. This is one of the few houses in Charleston with the original kitchen, laundry, and slave quarters. The gardens are also worth a visit.

Reasonable price, very informative tour guide. History lesson went beyond the house. She discussed the source of Charleston wealth in that period as well as the decline. In addition she also provided the source of many phrases that we just take for granted like "set the table", "hit the hay" etc
