We hadn't quite realized how big the site was. We were travelling from Charleston to Beaufort and decided to spend an hour or so at the site. Regrettably, we had just reached the 'Adventure' replica ship when we were engulfed in a torrential rain storm, which was in fact the start of the flooding problems in Charleston recently. We were... My favorite place to go since I was a child. Through its ups and downs over the years, Charlestowne Landing remains a unique and priceless jewel that must beer visited often.

The Lagare Waring House at Charles Towne Landing State Historical Site in Charleston, South Carolina is simply the perfect venue for a wedding. The majestic Avenue of Oaks, the surrounding landscape and magnificent house is so very romantic for the happy couple and their guests. The staff is very professional in all facets. The service throughout the day was second... More

It is pretty park. But to call it Williamsburg of South Carolina is a major overstatement. After paying an admission fee we were directed to the area were "colonial time dressed educators" were suppose to present there stories and part in history. All that we found is 1 lonely person sitting on a side of the ship who told us... More

I had a little time to kill before I had to go to airport so stopped at the Charles Towne Landing Site. I specifically wanted to view the zoo. It cost $10 to get in but they offered $1 off with an AAA card. The zoo part was about a 10 minute walk into the site. It was hot and... More

We really enjoyed walking the historical trail and the animal forest was amazing--all kinds of animals and birds indigenous to the area. The trail is paved and the historical points are very well done.

This is an important historic site but there is little to see except in the visitors center. It has a good story of the landing and site.

This review is only for the Animal Forest Trail. My first recommendation is to go early in the morning if you’re going during the summer - the animals are usually napping in the middle of the day which can make for a disappointing trip. Part of the trail was closed due to some trees that fell during a big storm... More

This park was the first site of the Charleston colony. As such it is historic. It is about a two mile walk around the park which has a small zoo; there is also a small merchant ship replica of the ones in use during colonial times. A visit here gives you the larger perspective of why the colony was founded... More

This tour turned out to be much more than we expected. It was a nice walk with interesting stops along the way. We met one of the actors/guides along our tour and we enjoyed the historic information he shared. We did not have a lot of time, so we did not stay in the Animal Forest for very long.
