Even in the heat of June, it is so cool to walk the little hidden ally off King street that cuts into the cemetery of the Unitarian church. The graveyard has a beauty in its overgrown plants. Inside the church do not miss the gorgeous...More

We love cemeteries (we're from Salem, MA -- we can't help it!) and this one is especially lovely. Lots of greenery and beauty all around.

Only visited the cemetery. The cemetery tour was part of a Ghost Tour. This cemetery, adhering to the traditions of Unitarians, is unkempt--allowed to grow wild and poorly tended. Yet there was an ambiance within the cemetery that was spell binding. Peaceful. A lovely experience.

If you're into this kind of thing, the gravestones make for some interesting reading, nice and shady on a warm sunlit day.

The church and it’s grounds are beautiful. If you can, try and visit when the church is open. Volunteers give tours and answer questions about the church September thru mid-June on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-1:00 p.m and Sundays from 12:30 p.m. – 3:00...More

The church was closed but I primarily went for the gardens anyway. It is an oasis, very calming. There is a gateway on King Steet next to Domicile real estate.

We'd been recommended to visit this quirky and overgrown cemetery and it was difficult to find. We asked a number of locals who didn't know of it until we found some aged Daughters of the Revolution who gave us great directions. It's a gem of...More

The ceiling in the sanctuary is not to be missed and the church yard is a treasure. Some of the plants go back to the 1830's.

The gardens and the cemetery of the Unitarian Church are almost hidden. Walk by the gate and then wander back into a wonderland of oak trees, camellias and azaleas. The cemetery is very old, and the grave markers are a lovely mix of designs and...More
