Join a 13th generation Middleton, for a personalized local perspective. End the tour in a private garden with refreshments. Walk with a local who grew up romping the streets of the downtown peninsula. The history of the city will come alive through the bricks and mortar still standing.

We enjoyed this walking tour very much. The guide is a direct descendent of a historic Charleston family. We saw a lot of architecture and learned about the roots of the walled city. The tour takes you down a number of brick paved alleys you would be unlikely to find on your own and ends in the garden of her... More

This is a very fun and interesting tour. Martha was very knowledgeable about Charleston's history, both good and bad. The price was on par with what many of the other tours in the area cost. In total, it ran for 2 hours from 10:00am-12:00pm and was at a pace of a nice leisurely walk with frequent stops. You are given... More

Martha is brimming with knowledge about the history of her beloved city, and she provided us with an amazing tour of Charleston! We moved at a comfortable pace to multiple sites along the southern portion of the peninsula with Martha sharing interesting facts and stories of the city from its inception to the present day. This tour is an outstanding... More

What a wonderful experience to be guided through Charleston by a local who had grown up there. Martha was a fantastic guide. Her love for her city was evident as she enthusiastically and proudly told us the history and current events of the town. Her knowledge of the town left very little need for further questions, but when I had... More

What a beautiful way to experience Charleston. To have Anne Middleton as your tour guide is like having a walking talking encyclopedia of the history of Charleston. The only difference is that this walking talking encyclopedia is also personable, charming, witty and a pleasure to spend 2 hours with. I can't speak to other walking tours of Charleston as this... Martha met us at the customs house on East Bay Street. She was a pleasure to meet. She was the best tour guild. She truly loves her city of Charleston! Her knowledge of archaeology was such a bonus. She took us thru alleys and neighborhoods I never knew existed . My husband and I have been to Charleston many times..... More

Anne was a delight! We had a great tour and were so happy to have her as our guide! She has an amazing knowledge of the city and walking really was the best way to get a feel for the town.

I had been to Charleston once before, with my mother, who was not keen on walking two hours so we did a carriage tour. I learned a lot that trip, but nothing compared to what I learned on foot with Anne. I felt like we learned and were exposed to things unique to our tour as a result of having... More

I was lucky enough to have a tour all to myself (going in February has its advantages). It was delightful, informative, and relaxing. I was able to get answers to every single question I asked - it's nice when your tour guide is an archaeologist!

Both sisters truly love sharing the history of Charleston. We were shown several popular historic sites and some of the less traveled historic alleyways. The only thing detracting from the experience was all the road construction (noise, barrels, and trucks), which couldn't be helped. Great overall experience.
