This was a stop on a walking tour. A beautifully restored theater. While there we overheard a patron rave about a play which was still playing, Young Frankenstein by Mel Brooks. We got tickets, 2 of only a few left and had the most fun...More

We were wandering around Charleston and decided to step inside. Turned out that it is possible to visit the theater for free. There is some historical information available and it is a very nice break from the heat during a day in the downtown Charleston...More

Love this venue! Small and quaint and beautiful architecture. Always enjoy getting to see a production here. Close to good restraunts for dinner before the show.

We feel very fortunate to have just wandered into this beautiful theater. Truly a beautiful building and a very interesting history lesson.

Interesting to know that this is the FIRST theatre in the United States and still in use today. It is also the hub for the internationally renowned annual Charleston Spoleto Festival. A beautiful, historical site that we highly recommend visiting when in Charleston, SC.

Fun production and an exemplary production of what could've been a very dated play that didn't translate well to Millenials. The Theatre building was lovely, the staff and volunteers well trained in customer service. Appreciated the food and beverage offerings in keeping with the era...More

My wife and I attended a production of a Sherlock Holmes play here. A quaint walk down a quiet street past Broad, a clear evening out, and a great dinner beforehand. The theater is historic, and a bit cramped in seating terms, but the staff...More

We did a self tour of the theater (the only kind available). There is an exhibit on the ground floor with the history of the theater, and then you can take a meander around the theater itself, which is just lovely, and lovingly restored. It...More

I am sorry I do not know the number of seats; there is a lower level with over a hundred for sure and an upper balcony level that seats maybe 40 or 50. If you choose balcony, do not sit on the sides as you might end up with... More
