The history of the theater is remarkable. The outside is very detailed with lots of textures and the inside shows the rich history with the seating and locally grown/milled native black cypress for the beautiful warm wooden interior. Just beautiful.

My husband and I have had the privilege seeing several types of theater and opera in the first opera house built in the US, which was recently touched up. Fortunately, the city was smart enough to keep the authentic look and feel of the original building. One feels honored to be able to view the acts put on and can... More

My daughter and I loved the play , " You can't take it with you " when we visited Charleston SC . The cast were wonderful and the theater was beautiful too . We had balcony seats with limited view of the right side of the stage , but still enjoyed this delightful play.

We have always enjoyed the performances at this theater. Nice little courtyard to enjoy a wine or soft drink. Seats a little tight and uncomfortable (back problems).

We love this theater, and will see any plays they offer. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's community theater, it's always an adventure.

We passed the Dock Street Theater while on a carriage tour. The carriage tour guide said you could walk through the theater on a self-guided tour for free so we went back to check it out. It was a beautiful theater and lots of interesting history. Doesn't take very long to walk through. Would definitely recommend if your looking for... More

It is an interesting old building with a lot of history. Our tour of the building was done by our walking tour guide Anne Herron, and she made it enjoyable.

The theatre building is beautiful and well worth the tour. You are allowed to take pictures in part of the building. Beautiful piano and some portraits inside. No admission fee to tour this building.

We did not see a play here but we toured the theater with a local actor who has performed on its stage. This is a must see as the restoration and the attention to detail is fabulous. If a performance is available when you are there - book it! You will feel immersed in an elegant evening in the old... More

I love the Dock Street Theater, especially during Spoleto. The seats might not be the most comfortable in the world, but the surroundings and acoustics are great.
