Enjoy the outside of this wonderful church, the history and the graveyard. Inside was disappointing, very drab and plain. I thought there would be much more to it. So the beauty is the rest of it.

In 1681 members were referred to as "dissenters" as they would not adhere the the Anglican Church in England or here in the colonies. The members included English Congregationalists, French Huguenots and Scottish Presbyterians. African-Americans both free and enslaved were included in the flock. The...More

We parked beside this church four times in a bank's parking lot. $10 on weekends. The cemetery is on three sides of the church. The markers tell many stories in short meaningful phrases.

I have been to a couple of events that took place at the Circular church. It is beautiful, and certainly very unusual with the seating inside making a semi-circle and so forth. Would love to attend a service there sometime.

We did the historical walking tour & this was one of two churches that were open. AMAZING architecture for that time in history.

Lovely church. We were unfortunately unable to go inside because they were closed, however we walked all around the outside and in the historical graveyard as part of the Gateway Walk. It’s definitely worth seeing as it’s unique architecture and history are fascinating.

We were fortunate to arrive at this church at a time when we could see the interior. It a Romanesque masterpiece on the exterior and a beautifully simple church inside. Once you explore the interior, a walk through the cemetery and a study of the...More

The Circular Congregational Church and its burial ground is an interesting and picturesque stop along the downtown Charleston horse carriage tours. Our guide mentioned that several early non-Church of England congregations shared the church building and worshiped together.

this Church is circular, well according to a Scottish member of the congregation, and that is because it was built this way to prevent worshippers (Scottish? - no never!) avoiding the Offertory Plate.... No corners you see. :-) True according to an Official guide but...More
