We ended up running late. Parking is available, but the parking lot was a few blocks away. We arrived and Classic Carriage Works had taken the time to contact us, and remind us of the reservation. When we got to the barn, they had given...More

So first of all this company charges $2 less per ticket, but they do fewer tours in order to be sure to give their guides and horses more rest - I thought was a great thing! Patrick was so funny and sometimes borderline sarcastic, but...More

I highly recommend the Slavery to Freedom tour with Dave, who is extremely knowledgeable of Charleston history. He answered all of the questions and kept the group engaged throughout the tour. Learning more about African history in America, is such an important aspect of understanding...More

This is a must take tour. Our guide Dave has a history degree and he knows with details, names and dates about the awful history of slavery and discrimination in the Charleston area and South Carolina.

Excellent! Dave, the tour guide, was well informed and had an easy going attitude. Tour is a must! Dave did not romanticize the horrific history of slavery.

Many thanks to Dave (and Chase our 4-legged guide) for telling us and showing us little-known truths about the international slave trade, the inherent violence and dehumanizing reality in every aspect of this industry. As we took in the architecture and historical characteristics, we were...More

The large carriages seat up to 16 people, so if you purchase group tickets you will be riding with other people. Kids 3 and under can ride on a lap for free.
