This place is huge. They added a planetarium that is awesome. If you like history go and take the day to walk around and learn.

This place has something for everyone. From the Julius Caesar exhibit to looking at the sun. It has 4 floors of history of all types. You could easily spend a whole day there. Make sure you go to the 4-D theater for some great surprises. The folks that work there could not have been more helpful. They were great.

The SC State Museum is a fantastic treasure for young and old alike. Wonderful exhibits on history, nature, culture and science. There ia a range of very reasonable user friendly entry fees. I highly recommend individual or group visits.

The reason we stopped initially was due to the Julius Caesar exhibit (5 dollars). The exhibit was amazing and very detailed as well as hands on. They have a three story museum (which is free), such a great place to bring children! Lots to learn about South Carolina, and Columbia in particular. A must see if in Columbia! It's also... More

We have been to the SC State Museum several times and finally purchased a memership as we will continue to visit. They have wonderful travelling attractioons, e.g., Norman Rockwell exhibit, as well as a very intersting standing display. They have recently opened an observatory as well. Theere is a section on the Confederacy, but the museum as a whole covers... More

Had some extra time and I enjoy history so I journeyed to the SC State Museum. The overall quality of showings are very good and informative. The facility is neat & clean and the self guided tour is simple and relaxing. Well worth the time and little expense.

This is a huge museum! Lots to see. Go in see some, take a lunch break then look some more. Large free parking lot. Got to avoid the school groups though.

The updated museum is really good. The museum needed a face lift and they succeeded in the new additions. The 4-D theater is fantastic. The planetarium and the exhibits of the telescopes are great. The museum still continues to bring in good traveling shows. Currently a Roman exhibit is on display
