You won't regret spending a little time here in this museum. It isn't large and you can skirt through in 10 minutes, or easily spend an hour. Very high quality and you should not miss it if you enjoy military history.

What I liked most about this museum is that it knows who it is and what it wants to be. There isn't any flowery political correctness or greater good conversation, it is strictly "here are the historical events that SC was a part of and...More

If you have any interest in the civil war, this is a place not to miss! It has many actual South Carolina artifacts, and also includes a lot of SC history. I only had a short time to visit - wish it had been longer!...More

It's small but mighty. The museum not only houses confederate relics but also contains exhibits covering South Carolina's involvement in many wars. You can tour this in an hour or so.

We stopped here mainly because my wife's g-g-g-grandfather was a general in the Confederate army and from South Carolina. Thought maybe we d'd see something about him but didn't. They had a Xanthus Smith exhibit with many of his works of art. Was interesting to...More

A little known fact, on many Fridays they have speakers come and talk about all sorts of things related to the history of South Carolina - battles and personalities in particular. There is no charge which is an added bonus. Half the museum doesn't change,...More

The information & artifacts were impressive. Staff knowledgeable & welcomed questions. Staff explained there was a "myth" but an archeological dig proved it correct! The museum has the arrowhead to confirm the myth as fact.

The Confederate Relic Room is a hidden treasure. The exhibits are first class, and well worth a visit. Try to set aside at least two hours to really appreciate all the museum has to offer.

Good for history buffs, one visit...well presented but just your average museum. We hit a special sterotype display that was moving but a bit gruesome for kids

A must see exhibit about SC vets who joined WWI and their experiences and efforts. It is hard for people to realize that the end of the Civil war was not hat long before WWI only 52 years difference and SC had been largely decimated...More
