Captain Rod is a plethora of information! He knows local history because he's lived it. He's funny and real. He made the trip to and from the island entertaining and full of information. Shell Island was an oasis away from real life. Perfect peaceful spot to walk along with my beautiful wife and get mementoes for the kids... you got... More

So enjoyable! Nice one hour boat ride out to the shell island. Beautiful island, opportunity to find some great shells and driftwood. Cap'n Rod extremely knowledge about the area and will share his knowledge throughout the entire trip. If you are lucky you will see the occasional dolphin. Our family has enjoyed this tour 4 times in the past several... More

Cap'n Rod and his wife are very special people and you will not be disappointed whether you pick one of the plantation tours up the rivers around Georgetown or choose the trip to the lighthouse and shell island. Cap'n Rod knows the history of the entire area, knows the many waterways, and knows how to entertain while sharing these things... More

We decided to try something different this year, and gave up a day to drive to Georgetown for “Cap’n Rod’s Lowcountry Tours. Frankly… it’s one of the best things we’ve ever done on a Myrtle Beach trip. We did the Shell Island/ Lighthouse tour, and would recommend it to anyone of any age. The tour time is based upon the... This tour was money well spent. Cap'n Rod and his lovely bride Miss Fran were way too much fun. The 3 hour tour up the river was a great way to spend the morning. Beautiful plantations, bald eagles and an enormous amount of history imparted by Cap'n Rod a true Southern Gentleman. From the plantation era, though both the Revolutionary... More

Not just informative, but entertaining. Beautiful land and waterscapes, and plenty of time to walk the beach on North Island enjoying the day and searching for shells. A must do for anyone visiting the Low Country. My friends and I spent a wonderful 4 hours with Capt. Ron, learned a lot, and laughed a lot. Lots and lots of local... More
