Without a doubt, our visit to the Greenville County Museum of Art was the most uncomfortable, unwelcoming museum visit of my life. We were literally monitored the entire visit to the point that the staff actually watched us walk up and down the steps and hovered as we viewed the art. We got a little to close at one point,... We are great fans of Wyeth so this museum was high on our list to visit during a recent road trip to the area. It is a very small museum with an incredible collection of Wyeth watercolors on display. According to the docent who was very knowledgeable, they have many paintings that are currently in storage. Small town - but... More

Greenville County Museum of Art is a worth your attention. First, the museum has many surprising gems of American art, with an extensive collection Andrew Wyeth paintings. Next, it is located on Heritage Green where the library, Children's Museum, Upcountry Museum, Bob Jones Museum and Gallery, and Little theater are located. Last, it is the Art Museum is FREE.

The Greenville County Museum of Art is the finest art museum. It is a pretty museum, with beautiful artwork, often teaching southern history, has wonderful support, and the best Director and staff anywhere.

We were rather disappointed with our visit to the Greenville County Museum of Art. The Museum was undergoing a renovation which reduced substantially the collection displayed to the Wyeth collection and small collection of three South Carolina artists. The Wyeth collection is quite good with two portraits that were particularly striking. The Carolina artists' collection was rather limited and we... More

Could only access the Wyeth and SC collection floor due to an evening event. Impressive works and quick. Disappointed website didn't post alert to closures and highly regarded gift shop was closed because someone didn't turn up for work.

Great little Museum for the size of the town, well worth visiting. Large collection of Andrew Wyeth's work as well as regional and Southern artists. Lots of college students visiting the day we were there as part of an assignment. Two galleries were closed for exhibit preparation so normally there is even more to see.

This is only a county art museum. But it has a great collection of Andrew Wyeth, Jasper Johns, and even Dave Duncan pottery (Dave the slave). And it's free. A great place to visit. Downtown Greenville is wonderful, and this is a nice part of that experience.
