An awesome experience. We learned a lot on the scavenger hunt. I highly recommend the Gulah tour-it was fantastic!

Four of my family did the Pinckney Island early morning birding walk with Carlos and it was great - lots of birds and Carloe was impressively good at spotting them, and brought his telescope so we got a good close look at them as well as looking through our binoculars. He also knew all about other natural history stuff so we learned about Spanish moss and how it reproduces, armadillos and how they are spreading, oyster beds, etc

We toured the Museum and grounds and found it quite interesting. We also took the Blue Crab Discovery tour with Carol Horowitz who was a knowledgeable and friendly guide, and the Dolphin and Nature Cruise which was a blast. Both were excellent and well worth the cost of admission!

The Gullah tour was one of our top experiences while visiting Hilton Head Island. The tour operator/owners are a Gullah family. Our guide had over 70 years experience explaining how the island has changed while diving through The many Gullah neighborhoods. A great combination of fun sightseeing and historical context. I’d recommend the trip for everyone.

We booked three tours through the museum and each one was excellent. Spent a day on Daufuskie Island on our golf cart, did a history tour of Hilton Head, then did a Gullah tour. Each tour was unique, professional and excellent. Then we spent time at the museum, walked around the walking path, got fruit at the Farmers’ Market and thoroughly enjoyed our activities and visit.

We spent a great morning with our grandkids at the Coastal Discovery Museum. Entrance was free, donations accepted. There is a scavenger hunt for kids - that takes you all around the grounds to explore the various features. We dropped by the Barn to meet the horses. The girls learned all about loggerhead sea turtles and completed a free craft. We stopped by the carnivorous plant exhibit and learned about the Venus Fly Trap (native to the area.)

Fun for all. We were able to experience the critter meet and greet which was a lot of fun for my 9 year old. We also explored some of the grounds, learned a lot in the museum, and went into the butterfly experience.

Our visit to Coastal Discovery Museum was unplanned and sporadic. It’s worth a planned visit though. The staff was knowledgeable and the exhibits provided a lot interesting information on the area. The outdoor marsh boardwalks were enjoyable too.
