The drive into the park is lovely with all the trees. There is a restroom in the office building...We stopped there after paying to get in. It seems to have plenty of parking. Camping is offered and the beach is pretty. The pier is small but it was a nice place to spend an afternoon and see a wedding.

South Carolina has an extensive State Park system and this is a shining example of how progressive the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism can be. Unfortunately, the night before we visited, lightning struck the Nature Center and totally destroyed it killing a lot of animals in their exhibits. The good news is that it will be totally... More

A little expensive to get in but it is very beautiful once inside. Lots of wild life to see and great camping area. You won't be disappointed

We we enjoyed this place so much. I took my mom, my sister and my 10 yr old daughter and my 8 yr old nephew. The kids enjoyed seeing the living salt marsh. They have a great souvenir shop with some fun oversized beach chairs for a photo op. DONT miss Atalaya Castle and make sure to take the castle... More

If you are near Myrtle and want natural beauty instead of crowds and high rises, thus is the place. This beach is clean, not crowded and beautiful. Admission to the park is $5 per head, but it's well worth it. This is the way beach vacations should be!!!!

Lovely beach, warm water and not as crowded as further north beaches. Ranger station with snacks available and several outside showers to wash off before going home. Camping available also.

This place has at least three different features. First you have the Golden Strand beach where you can enjoy the beach or just stroll forever. Second, you can tour Atalaya, the winter home of the Huntingtons (one of the carpetbaggers from the North who donated the Park and adjacent Brookgreen Gardens). Atalaya is definitely not your standard home of a... More

We visited my sister-in-law and her husband who were camping in the park. We walked thru the trees to come out onto the ocean beach which was beautiful. Though I am not a camper, my sister-in-laws loves this campground.
