We camped here over the Fourth of July. Stayed 9 nights for under 400.00. The beach is a short walk down a path reminiscent of a fairytale land. The bath house is decent and the sites in the back loop are shaded and spacious. We...More

By far one of the nicest beaches I've been too. The whole park and campground looked exceptionally well taken care of. The walk to the beach from the parking lot isn't too bad. The beach itself was very clean. Lifeguards on duty. Signage posted as...More

Spent the day here on the beach and wow what a beautiful state park and campground! The beach wasn't crowded since you have to pay $5 to get in so I was quite happy with that. The campground, while I didn't camp but did drive...More

Wow, will definitely go again, and we really didn't do much. Just enjoyed a hotel free Beach. Wide open, not busy in comparison to the hotel Beach. Yeah, you have to pay to go in, but it's not bad, and if it helps keep this...More

Nicest beach on the grand strand. Clean beaches and water and not as crowded in summer. Not free but can buy a one year pass good at all state parks

Huntington Beach State Park is an absolutely stunning State Park offering miles of bike & walking trails, gorgeous views, ample opportunities to view wildlife including alligators, raccoons, multitudes of birds, sea life and more. It's a great value for the entire family.

If you want to stay in an ant-infested park, this is the place for you. They have a big issue here and appear to be doing nothing about it. In addition, we came in one night early and had to move spots. Our new spot...More

Which is the best picnic shelter to reserve close to the ocean but not a long walking distance from the parking area? Looking at a small wedding in September and need a location for older guest to sit for a short ceremony in the sand prior to the event.

There are nice covered picnic tables near the boardwalk that leads to the beach from the parking lot. Not a long walk!!
What is the temp like in mid-april? Is it warm enough for the kids to enjoy swimming? Would they burn by the sun at that time of year?

The water was cold my kids got wet but it was too cold to swim. We did get some sun though so yea you can still get a burn.
can you just go there and walk around even though you are not camping?
