I tried to imagine in the olden days of the boardwalks what this was. I thought this area was more of a curiosity of souvenir shops and entertainment for the family. Especially off season, not much going on.

We come to Myrtle Beach every winter and stay 5 to 8 weeks. We stay at the Marriott Vacation Club Property circa 82nd street and always enjoy it there. One can view this area in two ways. There's the amusement park Myrtle Beach which is high energy and very typical of such places. In the summer we are Jersey Shore... More

It looks about the same as 30 years ago. Dirty with a bunch of cheap souvenir and T-shirt shops with loud rap music (with cursing you can hear from your car going down the road) blasting from the open doors. Don't go down there with your kids for 2 reason--the loud rap music, and it is a money pit and... More

Visited many years ago during a class trip with Air Force ROTC. We visited the beach and the shops before returing home.

SC native that has been coming here since 1978. The original clean and beach colored tacky amenities along with the pavilion & arcade are long gone. Now rusted parially lit signs, crumbling stucco, roaming bums, and it smells like the urine trough at a ball park. The zip line and other minor adds around the area is like putting lipstick... More

Our family walked along here on Christmas eve day. We found parking close for a $5 fee for the day. Some shops and restaurants were open even on the holiday, we really enjoyed the Gay Dolphin, what a large store full of treasures. We found some cute Myrtle beach Christmas ornaments.
