SC State University is the Only Black University in the Entire country that has a Planetarium!! The University is in the quaint southern town of Orangeburg, S.C. Home of friendly people and great southern cookin.
The museum/planetarium houses a tremendous amount of artifacts and art. In May, it showcases graduating Seniors works of Art. And throughout the year hosts varied interesting and informative exhibitions. Many times, you can attend the openings and meet artists from various backgrounds with varied skills and training.
Whenever travelling to SC, it is a Must-See.

I have always been pleased with the programs. They are always well done. They will have programs on the upcoming Solar Eclipse. Check their calendar. Don't miss it.

This was an excellent institution that went down the drain due to the stupidity that characterizes the rulling people of our state. They had high quality exhibitions but they closed it to save money

Our visit to the museum was like coming home. It was great to see the great care that the faculty and staff have taken with the exhibits. The I.P. Standback Museum and Planetarium is a treasure for S.C. State University as well as the Orangeburg community.

Revolving exhibits on a quaint campus. The school welcomes, encourages and is accomodating to visitors. Look forward to my next event at the Museum and Planetarium . . .

We were pleasantly surprised! The James Brown exhibit is awesome. I couldn't believe that the museum had so many of Brown's personal items. It took me way back. My children also enjoyed it. It's a family affair.
