The lighthouse itself is not too appealing. It’s more of an eyesore for the beach, if anything. Yet, I decided to take pictures of it from different angles. A coast guard clown came out fully enraged yelling at me, accused me of taking pics of their cars (???). Guess somebody’s been spending too much time on TikTok.
Overall, this “attraction” is not worth it.

The Sullivan's Island lighthouse is well worth a short visit - it's an easy stroll from the road. It's quite bizarre - ludicrously top-heavy, but all the more remarkable for that.
One of South Carolina's more intriguing examples of surreal architecture.

Well, the lighthouse was not much to experience. There is no parking, so you have to find street parking (impossible in the afternoon). We knew you couldn’t climb or enter the lighthouse, but we didn’t realize it was fenced off and in such disrepair—it was very sad to see the state it was in. I’m glad we stopped because it was a very unique design. Honestly, I’d say it was best viewed from the beach, around Station 18.

We enjoyed a day at the beach today on Sullivan Island. We could see the lighthouse from our beach chairs. It served as a beautiful backdrop for pictures. It’s a beacon on the island.

True: The Lighthouse is not much to look at during the day, however the closer to sunset..and after sunset ..you'll have a different opinion. This is one of the widest beaches on the east coast @ low tide. A short walk down the beach and you will have amazing views of Charleston and the bridge. Fort Sumter will be on your left and you can walk to Fort Moultrie from this beach. Water is very calm.. Almost like a lake! Be sure to park (for public access) at Station Rd 19 for the Lighthouse or Station Rd 12/13 for the Fort. You will not be disappointed !

At first glance, it’s fairly ugly. However, it’s actually a unique architectural marvel: the only triangular lighthouse in existence. It used to be the second brightest, but the people complained that they couldn’t sleep and the light was turned down.

You can see the lighthouse from the beach, and while you can photograph from there, that's about it. It's not the most aesthetically pleasing lighthouse as is.

This isn't a lighthouse you can actually VISIT. You can only view it from the walking path to the beach. It is in a residential neighborhood.
There isn't dedicated parking for this attraction and there are no restrooms.
We parked a few streets away and walked. With this being a residential neighborhood, it felt a bit awkward.
The lighthouse is interesting in that it has a unique shape and, even in the daytime, we could see the light inside moving as it is a working lighthouse. It appears somewhat run down.
Overall, it's a nice thing to walk past and spend a couple of minutes admiring (from a distance, of course.) Unless you are particularly knowledgeable about lighthouses or have a particular interest in them, it's probably not worth a dedicated trip for the purpose of seeing it.

This is not a lighthouse that looks like most other lighthouses and at this time it is not one you can climb to an observation deck. It actually has a fence around it and desperately needs a paint job. So why did I give it a 4?
To start, I had never seen a triangular shaped lighthouse. To find out more about this lighthouse, I went to http://www.lighthousefriends.com. Fort Moultrie is a few minutes away and the beach, also 5 minutes away, is very nice. This is a residential neighborhood and parking can be a challenge, but combining all three attractions makes it a fun day.
I hope that there might be plans in the future to allow visitors to go to the observation deck as well as spruce it up a little. Giving information on the history of the lighthouse as well as the reason for its unique design would be very interesting.

It is different as far as lighthouses go but you can't park there or go in it or explore around it. Was able to see it from different areas of the island and it does make for a good backdrop in a sunset photo.

Does anyone know what time the light shines? I'd live to see it, but it sounds like it only lights once per night.
Thanks!

At night the lighthouse displays a beam of light which consists of a 0.2 second flash, a 4.8 second eclipse, another 0.2 second flash, and a 24.8 second eclipse.
