The mission of Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation is to protect and preserve the culture, tradition and living heritage of the North American Indians. The Foundation demonstrates its commitment to this endeavor by continuing the progress on the world's largest sculptural undertaking by carving a memorial of Lakota leader Crazy Horse; by providing educational and cultural programming; by acting as a repository for American Indian artifacts, arts and crafts through the INDIAN MUSEUM OF NORTH AMERICA(R) and the NATIVE AMERICAN EDUCATIONAL & CULTURAL CENTER(R); and by establishing and operating the INDIAN UNIVERSITY OF NORTH AMERICA(R) and, when practical, a medical training center for American Indians.

Whoa. I was not expecting this to be huge. But it is. Like 100 times even bigger than I thought it would be. Steeped in history it was pure joy to visit the Memorial. They do slap on a hefty visitor's fee valid for 2 days, but hey it's totally worth it. This is much bigger and better than Mt... More

I live in England and consider myself very fortunate to have been twice to crazy horse mountain, the first time we came although the weather was fine down off the mountain there was a raging blizzard when we went through the gates and after the snow fog descended and the carving disappeared. When we expressed our disappolntment we were given... More

The sad reality is that this memorial, while stunning and striking and someday going to be the 8th wonder of the world, can't get funding for the project, it's not government sponsored, owned, etc. it will be an incredible tribute... As a patriotic American, also sympathetic to the complexities and atrocities of the recent/modern histories of the American West I... More

I expectes sooo much more .... first of all its more expensive than Mt. Rushmore + than you are just allowed for this entrence fee to see it from the Visitor center (which is 50 meters closer than from the entrence point!!! You have to pay extra to walk close by (which is in winter not possible + it had... More

Dear Isabel S, Thank you for taking the time to visit and write a review of Crazy Horse Memorial. We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit to Mount Rushmore National Monument, it is a truly great sculpture. This site will one day be magnificent. But unfortunately, they are taking a long, long time to just get a part of a head going. The museum is excellent.

Crazy Horse Memorial what can you say to do this justice if you don't visit this for real you can't imagine how big this is no matter how many photos you look at its only a few miles from Mt Rushmore and Rapid City you will want half a day or if possible an evening because the lazer light is... I think this is a well made plan that will be fantastic in the future but in the present, this site isn't quite ready for what it wants to establish. The memorial is developing at the best pace it can but is very far from completion. The first nations displays are creative and put together with great care and pride.... More

Yes, it is impressive to see, but if you read the history about it in the tourist books and take a picture from outside, you do not have to spend the $22 to get in to the actual memorial. We were not going to pay to go in and after reading about the memorial and seeing it from the road,... More

We last visited this place in 1995, what a transformation.....This is a most see if you are in the Black Hills Area. The staff are very friendly and also very knowledgeable about everything that happened during the time of Crazy Horse era.
