Very cool history and the short hikes around the gulch are beautiful. I highly recommend you go beyond the bridge. Also, be sure to check out the falls and, again, go beyond the bridge for better views! The older gentleman in the souvenir shop was...More
We stopped at Devil's Gulch to see more of the mystery of Jesse James. Jesse jumped the gulch to get away from a posse chasing him from Northfield MN. There are some trails to hike. The area around the park is beautiful. Maybe a nice...More
If you happen to live (or visit) the area, this is well worth the stop. In Sioux Falls on business, I drove over for a hike and was very pleasantly surprised. Great (short) hike, scenery, and story... but I'm a sucker for that sort of...More

We went in the fall. The colors are simply beautiful and sound of the falls just rumble. The gulch is very interesting in its story. An impossible feat for sure but one will never know if he actually did it.
All the people I have brought to Devil's Gulch, have always made the same comment, "Did he really make the jump?" My answer is, "Does it really matter?" The place is unique, free to visit and allows you to use your imagination
Host at Palisades park told us about this park and was worth short trip to see spot where Jesse James supposedly jumped across with his horse. Short walk but very pretty and host was informative and friendly. Would visit again
