We were traveling to Pipestone and saw a sign to Palisades State Park. Since we had some spare time we decided to take a visit. After seeing nothing but rolling farm land, we were very surprised at this park. The admission fee of $6.00 was very reasonable. It seems so quiet and secluded and the granite cliffs and stream are... More

Only 9 miles from I 90, exit 406, so you don't have to stay in the 2 parks next to the highway with no trees. There is lots of nature and trees in Palisades Park. The park is big and you will never feel crowded. It offers little cabins to rent that over look the river, there are decks attached... More

This is not the largest park, but it is well worth the stop. A hidden gem in the area we come here at least once or twice a year.

I love this little piece of wilderness in the middle of farm country. It is amazing how high the bluffs are it is a great place to have a pick nic a hike or even camp.

Must see King & Queen Rock. Great rock climbing and hiking. Gorgeous pink quartzite. You can camp here as well or have a picnic during the day. Balancing Rock is also great. Kids of all ages will enjoy.

This is an amazing little state park just over the border from MN into SD. Hiking is short and pleasurable, scenery is amazing. The campsites are lovely (avoid #s 5 and 6) and the cabins are adorable. State Park day admission is $6, camping $21 so it is an affordable place to stay with the added benefit of glorious surroundings.... More

My wife, 8 year old daughter and I camped here in mid-September. What a beautiful area with dramatic geology and interesting history. We enjoyed exploring both sides of the river. We spent most of one day casually hiking and doing some rock climbing. This is a great place to let kids find adventure in a relatively small area of surprising... More

This is a nice gem we stumbled across on trip advisor. This is a beautiful park worth the short drive out of our way and worth the $6 entry fee. There were a lot of families enjoying the picnic ares and trails which was nice to see. We were disappointed to see all the young adults drinking and leaving trash... More

We almost missed this park during our visit to Devil's Gulch and I'm so glad we didn't! Lovely campground with several easy, short hiking trails that highlight the unusual rock formations.
