We have been to Mitchell many times to visit family and usually squeeze in a visit to the Corn Palace. We have watched it evolve over the years but this recent renovation is the best. The exterior of the building is decorated every year with mosaics made from colored corn; corn grown for its color not dyed. That of itself... More

I'm a farm boy from Kansas but anyone still has to appreciate the magnitude and detail of the artwork on the outside and it changes every year. Who knew you could make Elvis and Michael Jackson out of corn? and free unless you want to buy from the local vendors inside.

Interesting use of civic arena. Facade made to look like palace. Corn murals throughout and on outside. Different stopping place to break up long drive to Mount Rushmore . Smelled like Carmel corn, a little over the top. Good venue for concerts and basketball games. Good use of off season space. Interesting local surrounding store. Would visit once. Kids liked... Grandparents with 8 and 9 year old. Run down throw back. Kids' area with too young or too uninteresting some equipment broken. Only place to stop but after reading review we set our expectations low and yes it smells bad.

I-90 is a boring drive so we decided to stop at the Corn Palace. It was interesting to look at photos to see how the outside theme changed over the years. Creative use of corn and grains to produce art. Kind of hokey, but I like history and this place has it! And, you can buy anything related to corn... More

If you have time this is a good stop to stretch the legs and see something really unique. Even better it is free! Kids thought it was very cool and the history is pretty neat lots of photo ops. The market in the center of the arena has a lot of really neat items as well. I wouldn't go out... More

If you have never visited or it has been some time since your last visit, this is a must do site. It will not take long and parking is easy. Look at outside and then go inside to see more murals inside and pictures from the past. Free.
