Kitschy and crowded - but a darned good cafe!

Planned to give Wall Drug a skip, assuming it would be a South Dakota version of Gatlinburg (no offense, please)! The kids got such a kick of reading the signs that I relented and we stopped for lunch. They actually had a blast. We did not properly explore, but had a few edible burgers (not great) for lunch and grabbed... More

The thing that saves this place is its cafe and its ice cream store. The Wall Drug "mall", if you will, is one of those places that's become famous for being famous. They have more Badlands/Wall Drug/South Dakota souvenirs than you can shake a stick at. There's not that much to write home about, and the place is always crawling... More

Yes, it's a tourist trap, but a very unique place. It would be a shame to drive by Wall, SD and not stop here for at least a few minutes. Tons of souvenir quality merchandise, with some nicers stores and activities mixed in.

You will signs for Wall Drug for hundreds of miles on I-90; you have to stop just to say you did it. It's a standard tourist spot, but there is a lot to look at and the young kids will enjoy it. You can't come this close and miss it; anyone that has ever driven I-90 in SD knows Wall... More

Had no idea what to expect....just saw signs on highway. We stopped and loved this place....everything you could possibly want to buy for souvenirs and authentic Indian items were here....and more. Good food, lots of different shops....great way to spend a day. We even went back another day during our visit to this area to browse more.

From what I can tell, this place is mostly famous for being famous. I can't think of any other reason why it exists. We found our entire experience here to be less than sub-par. There is a cafeteria that serves up "home-cooked" style meals in a fast food atmosphere, the cafeteria itself is very dark, and the busboy station is... More

Nothing unique to offer here. Overpriced, goods were not unique, the food was bland and mediocre and overcrowded. Everyone was anxious to leave as soon as we got there. Our kids didn't even finish their shakes. Now I see why they had so many signs on the interstate. Total gimmick! We won't fall for it again.

I don't think of this so much as a store as a destination in itself. Yes, they sell all kinds of out west souvenirs. They also have all kinds of little oddball stuff to look at and a little western street front inside the store. If you go, walk all around because inside the big store are quite a few... More
