You’ll love Terry Redlin by the time you leave if you didn’t already!
Sep. 2020
We had no anticipations about this art center/museum. We were so incredibly impressed that we have told all of our friends that this museum by itself is worth a trip to South Dakota. Sumptuous marble columns, crystal chandeliers, mahogany railings and granite flooring are the first clue to what you will experience. We learned about Terry Redlin, the man, and then the artist. There are paintings by this incredibly talented humanitarian that will inspire and others that will make you cry. Since we visited in September, we were able to see Terry’s final painting, “Evening on the Ice,” which the Redlin family only allows to be shown for Alzheimer’s awareness month. The museum docents were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely welcoming. There is surprisingly no admission charge to visit the museum. There are two gifts shops with reasonably priced, quality merchandise and even some Terry Redlin prints to purchase. Before Covid, there was a cafe downstairs where one could purchase food, but it is currently closed. Even if you are not interested in art museums, please give this one a try. You’ll be so impressed with Terry Redlin’s life, genius, and accomplishments.

STOP and VISIT!
Jul. 2020
This is a beautiful place to see. We have driven by many times and made a point to stop this time. Beautiful property and building. We took a short tour, but could spend lots more time inside and outside waling the grounds. Great place to have a picnic. So relaxing. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful with information on the museum and other attractions in the state. Very impressed.

We really enjoyed it
Nov. 2019
We stopped in to see the art of Terry Redlin. To be honest, we were not expecting much. BUT - the art is wonderful and this place is awesome. Admission is free and there are 3 floors of his wildlife art and Americana art to explore. Highly recommend!

Don’t miss this stop....
Nov. 2019 • Couples
Just off the Interstate 29 in Watertown. The art museum and a place not to miss. Viewing Redlin’s art collection is a pleasure. After the walk through a couple floors stop in one of the two gift shops and see if you can go without purchasing something. Today we took advantage of their Veterans Day offer and took a small print home. Travel safe...

Worth the time
Sep. 2019
We stopped for a quick break and stayed longer as the art was so beautiful. The stories told through his art and his final painting which never was finished pull at your heartstrings. Seeing this drawings which he turned to paintings, his early art and how he grew as an artist and storyteller in his art. Well worth the time to visit.

A Regional Gem
Jul. 2019
During a rainy day over a recent family reunion, we decided to kill time day at the museum. The Redlin museum captivates the young and the old, whether you are a fan of art or Redlin's style of art. Redlin's scenes draw you into a nostalgic time. HIs use of light and micro detail will impress. Do not miss the short movie presentations in the lower level chronicling his life! The Redlin museum is FREE, so you can spend an hour or over three. Everyone in our party, ages 15-58 enjoyed the experience.
