Great waterfall hike
Mar. 2021
Gorgeous waterfall at the end of a 1.5 mile hike. The majority of the hike is fairly easy with the last bit being a bit more challenging. I have heard and seen photos of the waterfall being nearly dried up so I would advise that one go in the winter or spring versus in the summer. I do not know why anyone would say the trail is poorly marked, there are maps at the car park and then signage along the way the blaze markings on trees to keep you headed the correct way (look for light blue). One note of warning the roadway from the West involves a steep drive up a fairly rudimentary road so be prepared for a slow journey and be aware of oncoming traffic. Otherwise this is a good trip to a beautiful waterfall. Note that parking requires a $3 day use fee and you have to use an app to pay it.

Terribly marked, beautiful waterfall
Oct. 2020
The trail is terribly marked in general. There should also be some war ring (maybe I missed it) regarding the trail difficulty as it is not friendly if you have mobility difficulties. The trail to the falls is easy, so long as you can walk well on uneven surfaces. The stairs down to the falls are not advised if you have any mobility issues whatsoever. Just a fair warning.

It seems like most trails in this area are poorly marked with distance and difficulty level.

Nice hike
Sep. 2020 • Couples
This is a great hike. About 3 miles round trip and not too much on a out of shape person. It was very beautiful and peaceful minus the 100+ people also on the trail. It was very busy today (Saturday) I would prefer to go again during the week, when not so busy. It was well worth the steps to see it though.

Worth every step
Aug. 2020
The hike is about 1.5 miles to the falls from the parking area. The trail is very easy until you descend to the bottom of the falls or back up from the falls. It is still do-able for most ages, and it is worth the hike. If you want to cool off, at the bottom of the falls is a nice ledge to sit on if you want to be drenched in the cold water. Otherwise, it is a beautiful place to sit and relax. Great place!

Easy Hike for All Ages
Jun. 2020 • Family
Benton Falls hike is an easy trail that can be done by people of all ages. The trail is well maintained and is easily accessible from the parking lot. The trail is well marked and the falls themselves are beautiful and have a unique look. This was a great experience for my family.

Nice park area
May 2020 • Couples
Fairly busy area well kept and clean. Made the hike to the Falls. The trail was rather muddy in places due to the recent rains, but the Falls were full and beautiful. The hike is easy up to the Falls area. There are some steps down and uneven terrain to get to the water. I would say it is moderate. Not a trail that you want to take a stroller on though. Lots of large rocks in the walking path and washout ditches in other areas. Was fortunate to see the copperhead snake in the weeds before I stepped on it.

Well maintained, beautiful hike. Despite the dry conditions, there was still water at the falls. Enjoyable morning.

Benton Having Fun? Hike Here!
Sep. 2019
Benton Falls is a moderate 1.5 mile hike from the parking lot through forested area. Next to the parking, there is a sand beach and swimming lake with ample picnic tables and a large restroom facility. Great place to spend half a day or more. (You can do the hike to the falls and back to your vehicle in about 2 hours, depending on how much time you choose to spend at the falls itself.)

Easy and OK

There’s no street sign for Oswald Road. Stay on 64 till you see the large brown and white sign that says Benton Falls Trail head. There’s also a small brown and white sign that says Ranger Station. It was an easy hike to the top of the falls. It was about 50 feet to the bottom of the falls. It was more technical. But they were steps, and a handrail! Very doable. It hadn’t rained in a little while, so the falls were not raging! It’s probably better the day after a rain. Thank you to the review that said the trail head starts behind the bathroom with the water on your right. Park at the lower parking lot. It’s three dollars per day.

Directions!!
Aug. 2019 • Family
I looked all over for directions, and most web sites say take Forest Service Road 77 off of highway 64, but I could never find that on my iPhone maps. Forest Service Road 77 is labeled Oswald Dome Road on maps. Just FYI.

As others note, there is approximately 7 miles up this paved winding mountain road to the recreation area and there are several lovely overlooks. At the top you will need $3 cash to use the area. There are plumbed restrooms, picnic areas, camp sites, showers and a small lake with a beach area. There were a good many people using the area on an August Saturday.

The Benton Falls Trail is the main trail, it is easily walked until the last 1/10 of the way, with some scrambling on rock stairs required to the falls themselves. There was tons of water flowing over the falls today, it is quite beautiful, and a great thing to see!
